| Just picked up a 95, and the previous owners misplaced the original keyless remotes. So do we know which OEM keyless remotes are compatible and can be programmed with a 95? My 1995 Roadmaster has the late 80s and early 90s style GM fob that is rectangular, and wonder if that is what came with the 95 Riviera? Also, am wondering if the mid/late-90s "teardrop" shaped GM fob will program to the 95? If so, that would be great news as I have three of this style left over from my daughter's 97 Saturn SL2 that recently died. Anyone know which style fob came with the 95, and if the later style will work? Thanks, Al | |

| You need the correct remote(s). Even, if they look the same, they may not program. The teardrop remotes have different part numbers even though they look the same. For my 98, 25678792 was the part number. Not sure what the correct number is for 95's. Also, remove the jumper wire after programming the remotes, BEFORE you turn the ignition off. If you don't, you will erase the memory of what you just did. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| You can also get sweet remotes from www.keylessride.com . I got one for my 95 from them since it was pretty cheap and brand new. A much more modern looking one then even the 98 ones. I have this one: But there is also this one which is pretty cool looking: They work great and you can always find them on ebay for a bit cheaper that the website once you determine which one you need. _________________ | |

| Thanks. I found two NOS of the "square" remotes. I actually like the "old school" remotes Now I've just got to go program them tomorrow. Hopefully they'll program without any trouble. Al | |

| OK, programmed the two new remotes with no problem. Used a fused link as recommended, and the following instructions. My experience is that when I turned the ignition ON that the doors did NOT lock, but the remotes still programmed just fine. I can confirm that the correct remotes have the following codes on the rear: 25602667, 68, 69 | |

| As reported by others, I can also confirm that this procedure can cause some unintended issues with other electrical systems in the 95 Riviera.
In my case the ignition "accessory" setting and "run/on" setting would no longer allow the radio to turn on following the programming of the remotes with the procedure above.
I checked all fuses with a meter and all were good, so none of my fuses were blown as some others have experienced.
My next step was to disconnect the negative lead of the battery and let it sit disconnected for a few minutes. That fixed the problem and now all electrical systems, in my case the radio being non-functional, worked again.
So either this is just some weird anomaly with the procedure and it is somewhat unpredictable, or the factory procedure and tool does something a bit different than shorting pins 4 & 8. Or maybe a disconnect/reconnect of the electrical is part of their process... or maybe just the ECU? I have no idea.
But just some additional info if someone else runs into this problem.
Al

| Wow, what a total friggin' cakewalk it was to program for the car.
I just cleaned it up with some rubbing alcohol, threw new batteries in it. Jumpered the DLC pins 4 and 8 and the doors locked or unlocked, not sure.
Then I held down the unlock button for like 5 seconds and the car responded right away.
Super easy.
My only complaint is that the DLC connector is waaayyyyyy up in the dash. That sorta sucked. haha | |
