Turn Signal & Hazard Flashers - Location/Troubleshooting

-My four way hazards work! and they flash
-My brake lights work
-ALL the exterior and interior lighting fuses are GOOD






could it be the flasher itself?

Try changing the flasher unit first. The multifunction switch costs 100x as much and takes 10x as long to install.

so to do the flasher unit do i unscrew that plastic piece under the steering wheel??? and where do i get a flasher unit?

Yes, take out screws, pull down plastic panel, flasher is silver thing that looks like this:

i figured that much out

when i go to turn on my left blinker the cornering light lights up but the turning signal doesnt work. the left arrow light inside my car is also stuck lit up. the right signal and the hazards work fine. what do i do to fix this? thanks

It is odd that only one side works. Could be something in the multi-function stalk. You could try replacing the turn signal flasher under the dash.

My car did this as well, the arrow would stay lit up and not flash on the dash. Change the bulb in the taillight and your problem should be solved. Although it is strange that your hazards still work, I never tried mine while experiencing that problem.

99.9% of the time it is a burned out bulb.
Turn key on and turn signal lever to left and check front and back to find bad bulb.
The reason the hazards work is they are on the brake light circuit. Different filament.

You have to pull the tail light section out and check out the turn signal bulb that is bad, even tho you probably wont be able to tell. Just get a replacement bulb and pop 'er in.

step 1 - park somewhere you can leave the key in the On position and get out and walk around the car. Car engine does not have to be running (should not be running, actually) but key has to be On for turn signals to work.

step 2 - turn off engine, turn key back to On position, turn on turn signal, get out and walk around car and see which lights are on. Most likely one or the other of the rear turn signal bulbs are out. Of the 3 bulbs in the panel on each side only #1 and #3 flash with turn signals, the center one on each side does not.

step 3 - if you find a bad bulb replace it and re-test. If not go to step 4.

step 4 - check for chafed or shorted wiring under the steering column and in the trunk. Repair. Retest.

Yes, yes and no... All the flashers use the bright filaments, but as noted above, the emergency blinkers use a separate, heavy-duty flasher that won't conk out if a single bulb is bad. Turn signal flashers are purposely designed to stop blinking when a bulb burns out, to notify the driver.

Then the left front bulb(s) is dead, causing the flasher not to flash on that side... This is explained in the Owner's Manual, on or about page 2-34: "As you signal a turn or a lane change, if the arrows don’t flash but just stay on, a signal bulb may be burned out and other drivers won’t see your turn signal."

Replace the parking light and/or marker bulb(s).

my right turn sig works fine. my problem is i cant push the control wand down to turn on the left signal. I was going to look at the switch to try and find what was wrong and see if i can fix it but my sockets are too big to take the column cover off. any suggestions for this?

There's a rubber washer/gaskety thing at the base of the turn signal lever, that could be bunched up preventing you from pushing it down. Otherwise, you need a new multifunction switch, although I've never heard of one failing in that fashion.
