Oil leak,mystery location Empty
PostSubject: Oil leak, mystery location   Oil leak, mystery location EmptySun Feb 13, 2011 1:07 am

Hi people, has anybody had a oil leak coming from somewhere near the accessory belt tensioner? I cant find it. ive crawled under the jacked up car and looked everywhere humanly possible. its weeping down on top the knock sensor and oil pressure switch. Could this be the dreaded timing chain cover gasket?

not the valve cover. Its gotta be the timing chain cover then. I know for sure it aint the cylinder head..I might as well buy all the parts for a timing chain fix including the tensioner. do you think a new sprocket is in order?

I don't suggest autozone anything......
My dad bought alot of autozone parts to try to save some cash including pads, rotors, alternator, starter, and wiper blades all failing miserably. He keeps taking these parts back under warranty but man what a pain in the butt.

He's changed both front rotors on his truck 6 times but the just keep warping.
The alternator and start both failed once
Don't get me started on their wiper blades i put them on my wife's van and they last all but 2 months before the blade flies off.

Hmmmm..................

did yoyu check prices at the local NAPA?

RockAuto has better price. I think the NAPA is a Cloyes. Not sure who made the OR. A NAPA counterperson might be able to tell you. Thing of it is NAPA parts are usually fine if you avoid the "economy" line - they don't even offer an 'economy' timing chain.

I was going to guess end seal on the LIM. Worth checking closely before tackling the timing cover.
