hi out there! Im shirleyo an I bought a 97 s/c Riv. Got to tell u I LOVE it heart the only problem i have with it is that the gas gauge hits 1/2 and then instead of going pass that towards empty it starts going back up towards full. So the closer i get to empty the fuller it shows the tank. What is going on? and how do I fix it? I have only had my 97 for a couple of months so far with no plans of ever gettting rid of it. Its in the body shop right now getting the front bumper repainted an the windows tinted an all the paint dings r being repaired. SWEET! Love the white diamond pearl paint.

hi Welcome to the site.

Haha that's funny.....sounds like your fuel level sensor (on fuel pump assembly) is bad. Or, in rare cases, the cluster is messed up. If you know someone with a Tech II, they can command the gauge sweeps to see if it's the cluster or level sensor....

thanks for the warm welcome.
i think it probably the sensor. now the fuel pump assembly is inside the gas tank right? and is it a easy fix is it a pain in butt fix. it doesnt effect the car just a annoyance.

Yes the fuel pump is inside the tank. Lucky for us, GM actually decided to put an access door for the fuel pump inside the trunk on our Rivs. Take out the floor "carpet" and you will see it.

TYVM to Karma for posting the link as I was typing this lol. thumbsup
