anybody think about using it, or is it just a expensive hunk of junk??

I'd like to see how it fits the 2001 Riviera.

I bought a Weapon-R intake a while back and returned it. They don't fit our Riv's and the whole venturi effect is a load of crap.
Save your money and time.
The only good that came out of the experience was they included a Ram Air hose that fits onto their air filter inlet and that gave me the idea and template for creating my own outside air intake system.
I bought it thru J.C. Whitney for less than above price and they took it back without questions. Also Weapon-R has their own web site that hype's the venturi and ram air add on kit.

How many ways will people think of to take consumers' money for restricting air to the intake? It's amazing to me that this can be legal. Bet there's another kit for the exhaust as well! STAGE II!!!

Ya, I am still waiting for the 2000 to 2003 Rivs to come out to. This should be the first thing to tell you something is wrong. If a manufacture dosent even know what years a vehicle was produced, then obviously the designers and "engineers" cant be trusted for a "high performance" part.

It's been a looooooooong time since I've posted here on Riv Performance, but I'm glad I'm still considered a 'member', and thank those in charge for keeping me around...

I did a search the other night looking for any comments and/or constructive reviews pro or con regarding the Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake for the Series I engine... I have a '95 SC Riviera. While I did find a few comments on this intake, all I can say is that was all there was... just comments. Statements to the effect of saying: "save your money; build your own"... "waste of money"... one even went after the manufacture accusing them of misleading and basically ripping-off the pubic. However, none of these posters indicated actual experience with the intake... they just seemed to be expressing an unfounded opinion...

Comments are fine, and I am in no way attempting to criticize or disrespect anyone of the posters who made those comments... this is America after all, and you're most certainly entitled to pretty much say whatever you want, at least for the time being... I just wish there was someone out there who had some actual, hands-on experience, or know someone who has, with this intake... especially on a SC Series I engine... and can offer an honest, informative review of the product. I'll be the first to agree that the price point is, indeed, rather steep, and that price can be a formidable determining factor for a lot of us... especially those who are late teenagers, or early to mid 20-somethings for whom money might still be a little tough to come by.

I can afford to take a chance on this product, but I would like to get a well-informed opinion regarding this intake... if there is one out there for the offering. As one might expect... the manufacture makes some rather impressive claims about its product and its performance capabilities. It would be fantastic if there is someone out there who can either support or debunk Weapon-R and their assertions...

I purchased a Weapon R intake for my Series 2 Riv a long time ago through JC Whitney.
The unit did not fit my car. The aluminum intake tube was bent at an incorrect angle so that with the air filter installed it hit my coolant overflow tank.
The dual tube or so called venturi effect is a joke. I don't believe it would have any measurable effect on a supercharged engine.
Our supercharged engines draw the air it needs without the "Ram Air" or "Venturi" effect the manufacturer claims.
It had a decent air filter but that's about it. But you can get an air filter for much less.
It was overpriced for a hot air intake system. The ram air hose that comes with it is 3" diameter hose but really would not be any benefit to a supercharged engine. Maybe a naturally aspirated engine. But even then your drawing hot underhood air into the filter first. A homemade fender well intake or even the stock gutted airbox with a K & N filter would be better in my opinion.
Needless to say I returned it and got a refund.

weapon -r sux! i bought 1 for my old car weapon-r sed would fit it did not, this company has balls! how do they measure fitment for the older cars? do they look at an under hood pic and say" we can make it work" don't buy unless you see up close it fits. manufacture your own since money for you is "tough to come by" and save a ton of dukets.... do a search and you will find many threads that show you how...

I did install a K&N filter not too long ago, and it does seem that the stock air box for the '95 is 'naturally' gutted... no need to do anything to it. I modified the exhaust some time ago... 2-1/2" pipe, gutted the cat, and installed Flow Masters. Recently changed plugs... my mechanic friend gave me some iridium plugs... installed those along with some new wires... quite a noticeable improvement! My supercharged Riv scoots along pretty quick without having done all that much to it. I've just been under the impression that a "CAI" pipe would give me even more performance boost... but it would most definitely pi$$ me off if I spent a couple of Ben Franklins on an intake pipe only to find that it didn't fit properly, or that the product didn't give what it promised...

At this point I think I'll keep the credit card in the wallet and let this so-called secret weapon slide on by... Again thanks for responding guys... Aloha!
