| ZZP transmission? might as well slap on a billet flex plat while you have access _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | pretty close. It's a used thrasher trans I picked up cheap. 3.29s, shift kit, lsd, chain... had 20K miles on it and the price was right.
Started disassembly yesterday morning and I just drove it around the block. I can't believe I finished it in two days!

| I was in the middle of the install when I realized the 3000 stall converter that came with it needed a different flexplate. I thought about it for a while and decided the stock converter was fine since I do mostly city driving anyway. | |

| You might as well shine up those rotors, too! As long as they're exposed, you might as well get down and dirty on a clean car. | |

well the rest of the car is not that clean And even when it is clean, it still looks like crap. the paint has oxidized all over the place. I'm going to start in an auto body class in '08 and we'll see what happens... I did put fresh paint on the 'new' transmission after some wire brush action though

| thanks, I just finished reprogramming all the shift points and am going to take it for another ride. notice the passenger side end link I am actually a little concerned about one thing: The back of the Riv case looks like this: The back of the GTP case: That mount is used more as a stabilizer than a load bearing surface, but I don't know how it will hold up over time with only 2 bolts instead of 4. | |

| Been there done that! What a pain in the ass! I didn't change it for anything special, just a used transmission, but a couple of days on your back is about right. How about that bolt that you have to use a 24” extension to get to from the passenger side! | |

| that bolt... Interesting location. The first 3800 I pulled I didn't even know it was there. We were at our wits end trying to separate the engine and finally like WTF!! But since then I haven't had a problem | |

| Hmmm. those pics I posted earlier about the rear mount, where the Riv has 4 bolts and all that webbing... the GTP case just busted open on my first test drive (no hard throttle!!) right around the middle/upper/main bolt. It's leaking fluid out of a crack right out the side of the case. I'll be pulling it out again this weekend, and having all the good parts swapped into my old case... | |

| Ah, that stinks man... So it would be safe to say the GTP and Riviera transmissions are not interchangeable? I don't understand, did you use part of one with part of the other? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| If I'm reading this properly the structural integrity of the case on the Riv was different than the GP.
Derek.. I've got an ATSG book if you are doing the work yourself. Just holler and we'll meet up to get that to you.

| I just used a transmission from a '97 GTP. I have heard that the later cases were better, perhaps this is one of the reasons why. I don't know if all GTP cases are like that or just older ones, or maybe that was a GT case in the first place? I don't know the original history of the used one I bought, just since it's rebuild.
Whats ATSG? Automatic Transmission Service Guide? I'm probably going to use somebody local that I trust.

| It's the rebuilding book. Automatic Trans Service Group. It's the GM Techtran manual.
I did a quick search on car-parts and found that the Riv,Bonne and Park Ave are considered interchangeable (SC app) and GP and Regals are interchangeable.
Makes me think that the case differences are based on those.
