| 1965 Riviera … My LAST addition EVER! …Well for now anyway! This Riv was posted on the AACA Forum, I looked at it for a couple of days and didn’t do any more about it, then I showed it to the wife, and she told me to go ahead and get it! This is the main attraction for the car … It is “1 of 454” produced with the “LX” engine that is "not" a Riviera Gran Sport! The LX option is the 2 Carter AFB carburetors that was included with the GS package. Overall it is a pretty plain Riviera, Shell Beige with a Saddle vinyl interior, with a few options, but not many. It is in a little rougher condition than I would like to see BUT it is here now! It will take more work to restore than I was thinking/planning on so it will probably take some time, hopefully NOT as long as my other ’65! I’ll work on my signature as soon as I can get a picture of them all together. | |

| Wow! What a crucial find! Don't mean to argue with you over the Internet, but that automobile looks just beautiful. I personally like the Carter AFB ( AFB stands for Aluminum Four Barrel) because you can pretty much set them and forget them, without the adjustment hassles that other performance carbs present you with. Congratulations on your nice find! | |

| Very nice. My reasons to drive an hour over to see you and your cars keeps getting longer and longer.
Back in the early 90s, I seriously considered buying a 1964 that had the same "Super Wildcat" carb'd engine and dress up kit, with the same (or similar) exterior color. I think it may have been called "bamboo" in 1964? Not sure. The interior was black. Great looking car.

| Another WOW! Randall, its just "plain" excellent! You now have a goal...get it ready for the 2014 ROA in Colorado Springs. BTW, I have the exact same igloo you show in the photo that I store my 92 Riviera in each winter. | |

Yes, the body is in "pretty" good shape, and that is a good thing, it is the underneath that will be the problem! Like I said, it is here now, and no matter what it takes it will be "nice" one day.

I KNOW it won't be ready for that by then, hopefully I'll get it to a meet more sooner than later though! - Ship wrote:

I hope it holds up with the weather we have here. Do you leave yours up all the time? How old is yours and how is it holding up? I am planning another 20X24 garage where that "igloo/shelter" is, I just have to clear it with the county zoning and planning people, hopefully it will work out.

| Randall, I actually have two Shelters of America (Shelter Logic brand) igloos. The quality is excellent and the tubular structure is strong. The key is making sure the structure is secured tightly to the ground.
My gold/yellow one stores the 92 Riviera, is about 5 years old (had a smaller one previously but was just too small), and is up year round. My grey one stores the 91 Reatta, is only one year old, and will be up year round, also. My town does not require any sort of permit because the igloos are considered "temporary structures."
The tarps are supposed to last 7 to 10 years, but I do keep an eye on them, patch them when necessary, and am diligent about removing any snow accumulation as it happens. I've been told that the true Quonset style is best for snow issues due to its rounded style, but I went with the center peak design.

| I haven't been around here much lately, sorry guys. I'm dealing with a pinched sciatic nerve right now and trying to do anything to delay any kind of back surgery. It's winter, so I can't drive the '65' tho I did upgrade the cd system to the same Pioneer that has the USB playback feature as I have in my '98'. I'll try to check in more often. I hope you all have a great 2014... jimmyriv | |
