Fixed.
That just looks like too much fun.
EDIT: I'd LOVE to see how my Riv runs on a track like that. I'd do that all the time if we had a track around here.

Mustang was a built track car with 13" wide tires, lots more power, and a better driver.
Drifting is to road racing as burnouts are to drag racing - lost traction slows you down. It's fun, but I don't see the point unless you have $1k to spend on fresh tires every weekend. I was going for best times.
First time on track with GTO. Maybe get the rear end looser next time. In-car was a lot more intense than what it looks in the video. It takes serious balls to get the full potential of a car like this. The guy next parked next to me spun a Camaro SS 360º off the kink at 120-130mph. Luckily, the only damage was a couple feet of mud and grass packed into the tail pipe.

oh damn that was your first time at the track with your GTO too?!?! awesome! I'm going to try to get mine to Cedar Falls in iowa for the "midway shootout" and get my 10 second pass at 140+.. It's so addicting now lol.

Nice track vid AA! When you do that or autox in the riv, how do you stay in the seat? The gto and presumably the race car have good side support. I gotta work to stay upright driving on the street at time in the riv.

When the current ones (that I already bought out of a 98 car and paid freight and everything for) are in unacceptable condition I definitely will.

In the Riv, I just brace with my knees against the door and center console, and I use the steering wheel to keep my upper body in the seat. It's some good exercise for sure. After autocrossing the first time, I felt lactic acid in my arms, like I'd just done curls at the gym. The GTO's seats are great for support, but they are bouncy on a track like Nelson. I use the wheel a little and do the best that I can.
The seat in our LeMons LMR racer is a fiberglass racing bucket with 5-pt restraint. I can strap in and relax, use my energy to keep my head straight (literally), and to focus on driving wheel to wheel for 2 hours at a time. When I'm in the LMR, it's usually mental fatigue that sets in before the physical exhaustion. In the GTO or Riv it would be the other way around.

Just about time to give an update. My Civic Si has been getting 21mpg highway because of its short gearing and the high speed limits in Texas, so I figured I'd get something a little more fuel efficient.
Meet Orianna, a 2000 F-250 CrewCab Lariat 7.3L PowerStroke, 2WD and 6-speed manual. With 226,xxx miles on the clock, she gets 25mpg highway. Just picked her up a few weeks ago but I've already gone to town with mods! Did a shakedown run at autocross, as well.

Wow, I'm shocked that the Si gets such poor highway milage. Our Passat Wagon can still get 26+ at 80+ and it's much larger.
So bigger and heavier is the solution when you are in Texas... Follow the lead from the locals!
The 2000s are very nice. I had a friend here with a 250 and it rode very nice on the highway. A great cruiser. With the diesel you can indeed get that kind of milage, but I'm not so sure you'll be getting it at 80+...
How's texas treating you?

Texas is absolutely great to me; I got 25mpg at 75mph which is the speed limit down here on most roads. I bought it as my luxury cruiser/truck/diesel/turbo and I haven't had one complaint! It matches my Si in city driving with 16mpg, too. You'd be lucky to get 16mpg on the highway with a gas 3/4 ton!

I got used to having 3K HID's on my Si for so long; really easy on the eyes when driving at night or through dust and rain. The fogs are LED's; there isn't a single incandescent bulb left on this truck save for a few dashboard warning lights and power window switch lighting!

Sold my 92 SHO this summer because it was a little bit too much of a project for me. The rust was worse that I originally thought so I picked up this rust-free 1990 Taurus SHO 5 Speed to replace it. I prefer the Gen 1 styling because it's a little more aggressive looking but not enough for it to lose its sleeper status. They were also a bit lighter and this one especially since it has zero options. Same color as my Riv with black leather/cloth interior. Borla stainless catback exhuast, aftermarket Y-pipe, subframe connectors, aluminum subframe bushings, Eibach lowering springs, Willwood four-piston calipers with 13" two-piece rotors and upgraded 11.6" rear brakes. Gunmetal Team Dynamics 17 x 8" wheels with Cooper RS3-A all season performance tires.

That SHO is a great car. I like the Mercury Marauder, too. Both of them, two of the best sleepers ever.

Nice move trading SHO's. You came out with the better car, and I like the color. Brake upgrade alone is probably worth $2k. Considering the brakes and wheels, this car has likely seen some road course time. If not, it should soon!

I really like the original SHO Taurus. I remember one of our teachers getting one new when I was in high school. He wouldn't let us drive it for some reason...
