I have the fuel pump loose but float keeps it from coming out of the tank, do you have to undo the float, if so how? 96 S/C

You should be able to pop the float arm off. It just pulls out of the hole it's in. It does snap in place, so it will take some effort. Same thing when reinstalling. Be careful not to drop it in the tank like I did last time I replaced the pump. You'll be elbow deep in fuel....
