| First of all, welcome to the forum.
Are you sure you replaced the right part? Maybe the IAC is failing? Or they were both bad? Did you buy an "adjustable" TPS with a slot in one opening that would allow you to clock the TPS wrong?

With the car idling, loosen up the TPS screws and turn the sensor and see if you can bring the idle down.

| It has to be adjusted. The sensor tells the computer the throttle angle. The sensor gets a 5 volt reference signal from the computer, it sends back a voltage that corresponds to a throttle opening. .40 volts or so is closed throttle, 4.5 volts is wide open. A scan tool will read the TPS voltage. If you have no scan tool you can read the voltage with a multimeter. There are 3 wires, reference, ground and return voltage. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| Ok at closer inspection the idler arm is not sitting on adjustable idler screw. I took a pic but it's not letting me load it. Does cables need adjusting and to do so? Help I'm so close to having a solid sc riviera on the road. | |

| And inspecting new tps I noticed it's not all the way tightened just a slight movement in sensor with physical force. Should I tighten the sensor all the way down, obviouse answer is yes. And will the slightly loose sensor throw idle off? | |

| I would first try cleaning your throttle body before messing with your throttle cables if it is not returning all the way | |

| Idle speed is set by the computer with the idle air control (IAC). Not sure what screw you are referring to, but I would leave that alone. The computer must have a correct TPS reading so that the engine runs correctly. The TPS should not move around, tighten it down so it does not move. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| I have a pic of it is their a way I can load it. And doubled check part and it's correct, theirs a adjustable screw on the back of the power steering pump right below the pump is the are that rest on the adjustable screw that sets the idle and the arm is not resting on the screw I have to pull linkage up to have it sit on screw and then care idles fine it's like a quarter in gap | |

From what I just gathered from this, is that your throttle cables are stretched out for some reason causing them to hold the throttle plate open? Did you have any "major" repairs done that would cause them to be routed the wrong way?

| No just had to take throttle body off cause they put screws instead of bolts so in return I had to remove throttle body and cables are attached to it but didn't remove cables just did a 180 degree turn on throttle body with cables attached removed and replaced tps sensor and reinstalled throttle body | |

| Sounds like you may have bent the throttle bracket or something. | |

| Nope Macanic said I didn't put the tps arm on the throttle arm so the tps wasn't even working. Hope this helps someone else | |
