Weird light fluctuation...

Hi folks! On my just acquired '98, the trans indicator (the display that shows which gear) indicates that the trans is in drive. It also flashes like it is on a flasher circuit. Usually goes off after 3 or 4 times.
Also, the odometer display will go off and on as well,but sorta independent.
My temp gauge worked for a while, now it does not.
Ok. I already know that I have electrical issues. No reminders, please.
Now, how do I fix this stuff? In other words, where to start to fix it? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

See if the instrument cluster wiring harness is loose.

The other thing to look for is damaged wiring or switch on the transmission itself. On the S10 the Park/Neutral switch gets splashed if the guards are removed -- it's only a matter of time then before it dies. You will need a factory service manual I think. Check eBay.
