Has anyone on here "Two toned" their car? My 96 is majestic teal metallic and I've been thinking about painting the top as well as the side center molding silver. The top of the Riviera has a body seam that separates the roof and rear pillars so l think it might look good and the side molding would stand out and give a sleek look to the sides.

Lots of us have thought about it, but few have done it.
Here's a few I found on the web -

Thanks for the pics. I don't like the Two tone on the hood or deck lid. I'm thinking of just the roof and side spear molding

I'm with you on that, Cliff... I'd also of course like to keep the coach line (ha ha). I had an AMC Rebel with tan metallic roof and brown metallic body, cream colored interior, that I liked. What would be your preferred top/bottom/interior colors on the Riviera?

It's all a matter of personal preference, I like the ruby red and the dark blue/green interiors and the ruby red and metallic teal exteriors. My roof needs repainting anyway and I'm going with the idea of repainting just the roof and the belt line bumper guard in a silver color. I'm unsure about also painting the roof pillars

I prefer a solid or a single color on my car, I never tried to do a two-tone painting job. I am okay playing with colorful mags like the ones that HD wheels offer. They add an accent to the plain-colored car.

I definitely would not change the color of the rub strip. That sounds awful.
I've got doubts about changing the roof color, because the paint is going to have an edge showing at the base of the C pillar.
It was fun to think about these kind of things when the Riv was relatively new and there were bunches of them, but now that there are so few it feels wrong to make big changes to the appearance. It's already so rare on it's own.
I'm even having 2nd thoughts about rims, but I might be able to justify it because, right now, I've got all my center caps, and it might be wise to set them aside to preserve them. I'm not going to run the stock rims with the blank replacement centers though.

I havent done anything and I now tend to agree with you on not changing color. I am probably going to live with the paint fading on the top and a circular spot on the trunk where someone used to much rubbing compound. Yesterday while driving a country road I passed a driver at a stop sign. A hakf mile down the road I looked in my rear view mirror and that driver was on my bumper. He backed off and then I looked again and he had pulled over and was turning around. I think he wanted to see what kind of car I was driving

Why live with paint problems? If you've got the money to repaint, have those parts fixed. It looks like Rivs are appreciating, so you're not throwing your money away.
One thing is for sure about the 8th gen Riviera, you can't miss the back end. It draws attention and most people have no clue what this car is anymore.
