Here is a first look at paint. We just did the wheels and trim items tonight. We are shooting the body tomorrow am. The body will be the same color as the wheels. The color is off of a '07-'08 Lamborghini Gallardo but we made some modifications to it. Basically cut the amount of blue and red pearl in half substituting brillant silver pearl in it's place. We also added another 10 grams of brilliant silver pearl to top it off. Instead of "x" amount of medium aluminum flake and "x" amount of fine aluminum flake, we used all fine aluminum flake. The paint drastically changes from black to silver. It almost looks like black chrome. I will try to get better photos tomorrow...

Before clear coat...

After clear coat...

flash on to accentuate silver pearl...

It looks much blacker than the photos show but the silver jumps out at you as well.

Eric,
I have the rear window molding in hand, 200 miles and three and a half hours later, and driving mostly in the rain! I'll get the wheel well moldings off in the next day or two. I'm guessing you must have snapped off a tab or two on the black plastic triangle? I'll include that in the box and have it all boxed and shipped no later than this weekend. Do you need any of the fasteners or clips that hold the W/W moldings on? Let me know about that.
The tail light assembly I have is not in the best of shape so I don't know if I would recommend it for use on a freshly painted Riv!
I will need you to eventually send me back your plastic piece, I might have a use for it, even if it has tabs broken off.
Figured I'd move this from my paint write-up to yours.
I got everything removed and the box ready for shipping, It took a little more than I expected and I had a couple of rain delay days. Let me know about the clips and stuff, might as well send them while I'm sending!
Anything else small you can think of you need, I'll include it in the box if I've got it?
Let me know.
Looking good, that's for sure!thumbsup

Finally painted. Going to loosely put it together Thursday after it has time to dry. Bring it home for wet sanding and buffing which should take another week or so. Then final assembly.

I will caption the photos tonight with little bits of info- don't have the time right now. Can anyone tell me what the car is in the last photo?

Wheels painted and dried. I will have to repolish the lips again before the tires go on. I think I have decided on Nitto 555 ultra high performance tires. It was these or the G-Force KDW which I did not like the tread pattern and they are supposed to be noisy. Both are one step down from drag radials. Wanted the firm sidewalls for cornering so DR were out of the question.

Finally taped up. We used the lids off of rattle cans to prop up the hood and trunk so we can get a uniform coating of color and still get the edges coated. Pearl is a little tempramental. It lays differently depending on humidity and heat. Pearl also looks differently depending on how many coats you put on. We were initially going to paint the doors, lids, and misc parts seperately but wanted to make sure everything was consistant.

We are spraying two coats of jet black before the actual color goes on. It lets us get good coverage without putting on 4 or 5 coats of color which is expensive due to the pearl.

1966 Chrystler 300. One owner. It's going back to its original color of maroon. The interior looks and smells new. This is a BIG car!! In fact it's so large and heavy that during transport from the factory to the dealerships, often times the rear fenders and top of trunk between glass and trunk lid would buckle. This has the buckles on top of the trunk but the fenders are fine. Owner is wanting them to stay this way... supposedly it is more valuable like this.
