The AC works great (icy cold) on my '96 Riv, but every so often it blows HEAT for five seconds or so, then back to AC. This is with using the system in the auto setting. I'm guessing that when the temp is reached it's cutting the compressor, but it also seems like the underdash door is moved so the heater core is exposed.

Anyone else ever experience this?

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'm guessing by the lack of replies with others having this sort of problem, that this problem is unique. That's never a good thing! LOL

Never happend to me either. I just get cold air all the time and then when it gets cool enough (on auto) the fan speed just slows itself down.

Its not supposed to blow hot air when its cool to the right temp.

Does it happen to get warmer during/after you punch the throttle?

Racinfan, that was one of the things I considered as I have a '96 Impala SS and I know the AC system is designed to disengage the clutch at WOT. This does it at cruising.

There's a possibility I may have inadvertently "fixed" it last night. The battery was dying in the car, so I picked up a new one at the dealership. After I installed it, I took the car for a drive and the auto climate control functioned as it should- no warm air. Maybe all she needed was to have the brain reset? We'll see in a few days.

That auction may be the ticket, Jon, if the symptoms return today. Thanks for the pointer!

well ive had the same prob. during the summer, the ac would just start blowing warm on the passenger side unless i turned the passenger comfort controll to full cold. and now during the winter the warm doesnt bother me but my drivers side ac, wont go off, it always blows ac! ive unhooked the pressure sensor so the compressor is off, but it still blows outside temp into the car. my controll panel seems to work properly as the AC would go off when the set temp was reached during the summer. i NEED HELP!!! i hate the cold!!!! lol
