I have never tried this. Instead, I gap my plugs wider than recommended, around .058", to make longer spark paths. To my knowledge, our coils make sufficient voltage to jump larger distances without being "blown out" by boost.

Not saying the idea wouldn't work, but imo if you plan to open the electrodes to the combustion chamber, it would be necessary to aim the open side toward the center. This means indexing would be required, which would be a pain in the ass on the rear bank. Even more so because the electrode wear issue requires you to check/change plugs twice as often as with normal plugs.

Exactly my thoughts. Indexing is not worth the effort for most of us, and the likely shorter plug life is a drawback in a DD that sees 12k/year.
