Key fob range/distance issues?

Why is it that I have to be like 5ft from the car for my key fob to work? It has a new battery and everything inside it is nice and tightly soldered. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks

did you reset it after changing the bat?
hold down both the lock and unlock at the same time until it beeps (like 10 sec.)
if that doesnt fix it then try another bat. sometimes they are just bad.

I just tried it and no go. What is supposed to beep?

the car will beep when it is reset.
you may need to clean the contacts behind the buttons with some isopropyl alcohol.
also you must stand really close to the car to reset it. lock the doors, hold both buttons (L & UL) for as long as it takes for the car to beep once.
