| Transmission filter is easy enough if you've got the tools. | |

| You're not missing out on much. Tuning does more for shifts than the kit. Together they form the best result. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| You can't really drain all of the fluid, just what's in the pan. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| I don't know if this is the same, but my roommate put in a shift kit for his ZR2 and its like the easiest thing to do. Of course his PCM is easier to acess, but it takes about 5 minutes.
And his kit makes a big difference. On the highest setting its almost scarey. What shift kits do they make that work with the Riv (96?)?
I know his isn't quite the same as what we would use but I am sure its similar.

I know his isn't quite the same as what we would use but I am sure its similar. not a damn thing I can find. crappy outdated 4T60's. Even the PT programming doesnt do much of jack for the transmission. Im thinking a swap is necessary for any real "upgrade" for us in this area. this is all I found http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=BMM-70383&view=2047 and no one has it anymore i found "shift kits" but they only install during a rebuild.

| Subject: ZZP Shift Kit on a Riviera - anyone tried it? Thu Jul 19, 2007 2:43 am | |
| I ordered a ZZP shift kit, with intentions on installing it in my '98 Riviera. It only has 58k on it, so I'm a little hesitant on putting it in. I have to change the fluid soon anyway, which is why I was going to do it (seems to be an easy install).
Any thoughts on this? Anyone done it?

| I know Aaron has a shift kit but I think his is intense. I've heard good things about them but I don't personally have one myself. | |

| It's supposed to be easy to install, but I had INTENSE do mine because they had the car up.
Imo, a shift kit works better when combined with a performance PCM program, it will enhance the firm, quick shifts. On it's own, it makes a slight difference, but I felt like it made a "jolt" when shifting rather than actually speeding it up. When you decrease shift time and increase fluid pressure, a shift kit seems to be more effective.
Be aware there are different levels of spring tension available, which determine whether your shifts are better suited for street or track. Not sure how ZZP's compares to the INTENSE, but mine is one of the milder ones I think. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| so Aaron, you would say it's a good thing to have with the appropriate tuning for sure?
My next major purchase will be my own powertuner but I'm doing the trans very soon. I figured I'd definatelly use one of the milder tensions in the kit and work with that. If after I do more modding and tuning, see room for improvement, I can always change it in an afternoon.

| If you're going to tune, and you like firm shifts, I'd install the shift kit. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| IMO anyshift kit is good..since it increases clutch life, with firmer quicker shifts...which means less slippage an less heat... | |

| I've heard of the trans go shift kit and the trans go jr.
Think it was said that on the 4T60 the trans has to come out for the shift kit to be installed.

| Transgo only makes a JR shift kit for the 4T60. Their shift kits are really more of a "fix it kit" because they address problems. It's their "reprogramming kits" that are probably what you are thinking about when you say shift kit (actual increase in performance), but they don't make one for your transmission.
The SK 4T60E-Jr kit Corrects: Light throttle converter shudder. Contains hardened pins and “Tuff” accumulator piston seals to reduce clutch failure due to pin and seal wear, 3rd clutch seal is self expanding. Includes PWM valve, lock-up regulator valve & bushings.
It will prolong your trans' life, but will probably yield very little performance-wise.
