| It'll keep your throttle from sticking. It'd have to be pretty dirty to make a difference in power. | It won't ADD any power, but it won't hurt to do it. Best case senario is that it will restore lost power. But what helps restore lost throttle response better? TB cleaning or top engine clean? | |

| It's been done. N* TB will increase flow for sure, but not needed at this stage. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| i've cleaned and pollished my TB and it helped restore lost power. all the carbon on the back of the buterfly and crap built up as far back as i could reach. it had never been done (i did it at 100k milles). top clean doesnt really get all the carbon off the TB so a removal and clean is needed if you want it super clean and running perfect. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | its not really going to help unless you port the s/c too. you can buy them pre-ported from zzp (i think) _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Hello,
I bought one of those aerosol cans of throttle body cleaner in Automotive store to spray it into the throttle body. However the can says not to spray it over MAF, so I removed it, disconnected it and started the car. At first it struggled alot to idle but I gave it some gas and it seemed to have stabilized.
My question is,
Is it OK to spray the cleaner into the throttle body without the MAF being there? Will the engine stall out?
PS. The directions on the can say to spray it sparingly over 10 second intervals. Spray the entire can.
THank you very much. | |

| first off, welcome to the forum! i remember you from regalgs (unless someone else has your name) the car will run rough w/out a MAF plugged in. which can did you get? the STP version if MAF safe. your best bet would be to just remove the TB and clean it manually. the gasket is only like $6 and the results will be 10x better than just spaying stuff past the butterfly valve onto the rotors. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Thank you very very much for such promt reply. Yes, I am coming from RegalGS on a PM I received ;-) Looks like you got everybody here.
I do not remember the brand exactly, but I do not think it is MAF safe anyways. I agree on doing the cleaning manually. I wish I had time for this procedure.
My car is acting up, so im trying to clean out sensors. I cleaned the Injectors, have new CPS, cleaned the IAC, have new fuel filter, tried different octaine gas and still have struggling throttle issues.
WHen I floor the gas, from around 1000-2000 rpm, I hear and feel the engine struggling reving the RPMS. But once its past 2000. they rev up quite fast. This happens in all gears and NEU and PARK.
I still cant figure out the problem. maybe you guys could help?
Here are some tech data Ive collected recently:
DIAGNOSTICS AT IDLE:
RPM (Idle) In Park/NEU - 800-852 In DRIVE - 600-661 (Is it normal being lower than in Park?)
MAF (LB/A) In Park/NEU - 0.67 - 0.68 In DRIVE - 0.58 - 0.60
ABSLT TPS (%) 0.0 at Idle
02S11 (V) Constant jumps between 0.045 - 0.85
Thank you, Ive been trying to resolve this issue for many months and still cannot understand what is cauing this. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

| OH yea One more thing:
If I "abuse" the engine and keep floring it, despite the fact that it is having so much difficulties to rev up RPMs in the beginning, I get the following codes:
P1406 - EGR PINTLE POSITION CIRCUIT AND CYLINDER MISFIRE (NO SPECIFIC ONE)

| I'm assuming you have a scan tool of some sort. if you watch your TPS does it change smoothly as you get into the gas pedal? (can be checked with the engine off, key on) | |

| Is you Riviera supercharged? If so you should not have used the Throttle Body cleaner as it will damage the coating on the supercharger rotors. | |

| Hello, Thank you for replies!!!! My Rivvi is not SC. I have not used the TB cleaner yet... I will take the time to monitor the data while acceleration and will report soon!!! Yes, I sprayed the MAF several times with the aerosol cleaner. Wires were replaced last summer. Plugs were replaced 2 yrs ago Thank you very much for the consideration guys!!!
