No RTV on the TB gasket , you don't want silicone anything around the fuel for starters.

| I removed my TB today as well., The back of the butterfly was covered in crud which I suspect might be some K&N filter oil.. I cleaned the heck out of it and will put it in tomorrow. I gotta go to the parts store for a new TB gasket cause mine cracked off. I'm pondering replacing the MAF. Anyone know how to test it?

| Best test for MAFF is to have the car scanned. If your sensor is bad you'd probably notice some issues when driving, stalling, etc. MAF sensors don't usually go bad, and should be cleaned once in a while with MAF or electronic parts cleaner. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| It's neat to get in there and clean it, but that crud behind the TB plate isn't going to make much difference in performance, and it isn't causing your SES. Get it scanned and you'll know more about what's going on. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

The first thing to do is get the SES code read. Best thing to do is get your own scanner such as Car Code (www.obd-2.com) or an Actron (see their web site - don't just get a code reader, get a scanner that reads the sensors in real time). Be sure to wipe out what part of the intake you can see when you have the TB off. You can stuff a clean rag into it before spraying and wiping, as long as you remember to get all of said rag back out before reassembly. When you get the code read we can help you figure out what's amiss.

| I cannot figure out how the hell to get that black bracket off. There were two 8MM bolts on the front, and a 13MM nut attached to a stud underneath the rear of the bracket. Still won't budge. Not sure where the hell it's connected still. | |

| Sniper - Robo is right. The bracket that's in your way is a heat shield that is bolted onto the side of the rear cylinder head. Should be either two 15mm bolts or a 13 and 15mm bolt, I can't remember exactly. Not as bad as it sounds! | |

| Thanks for the pics Robo, those are useful. Is your car not equipped with cruise? Just wondering cuz I only see one throttle cable. Also my power steering reservoir is mounted on top of the bracket. :/ | |

| Here's a pic I found of the hiding bolt (courtesy of Karma) for my exact bracket. It's 13MM. | |
