springs - FAQ: Aftermarket Lowering Springs - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: FAQ: Aftermarket Lowering Springs   springs - FAQ: Aftermarket Lowering Springs - Page 2 EmptyWed Feb 21, 2007 12:54 pm

I called eibach just to make sure that the springs do not interfere with the auto-level feature (which the SLS also has) and they said that it is not an issue.

Also, Brad can make us all a deal at 249$ shipped in the lower 48 states for the eibach spring kit, to make up for the hassle with the addco situation. That is a very, very sweet deal. Just compare to summits price of 279.99 + handling or all the ebay vendors who come out to approx 280 with shipping.

He does not need a minimum amount of people to do it so they can be ordered on an individual basis. Just mention the Riviera (g-body) performance forum.

PostSubject: Re: FAQ: Aftermarket Lowering Springs   springs - FAQ: Aftermarket Lowering Springs - Page 2 EmptySat Feb 24, 2007 11:00 pm

Here in Nevada the roads can be bad, and in town the loving government has gone to "traffic calming" schemes. The traffic circles and chicanes (sp?) are kind of fun, but the speed bumps can be 3 inches high. :-( And the tailpipes will drag a bit now when I back into the street from my sloped driveway.
So...
Does anyone make firmer springs without lowering the ride height?

PostSubject: Re: FAQ: Aftermarket Lowering Springs   springs - FAQ: Aftermarket Lowering Springs - Page 2 EmptySun Feb 25, 2007 11:52 am

your best bet would be oem springs from a G-body. Get them at a junkyard.

If you go for the seville springs, make sure it is an STS (RPO FE3 firm suspension).

Since GM no longer publishes springs rates, and I can`t find any info as to whether they are linear or progressive, choosing an OEM spring would be an educated guess.

Allternately, you could find the appropriate MOOG spring. They make good springs! That list is too long and I truly do not have time to go look for spring specs that I won't use. Note that on many springs (CC507 for example) the spring is progressive and the rate given is the INITIAL rate only. It'll get stiffer as it is goes through it's motion.

Ideally, you should have the specs of the stock spring to find a replacement.

Thanks for the link with the Moog springs. I'll let everyone know what I find when I get the struts and springs.

not yet. Since I'm in Canada I have to pay more for shipping. probably about $40 extra.

Combine that with the fact that I'm modding my roadmaster AND turbo
regal at the same time, and the springs are lower on my priority
list. I will be getting some soon though.

I'm checking the price and availability on the intrax (1.8" drop) springs. I'll order as soon as I know more. Looking forward to that being the planned mod for April.

the GP on eibach 98-99 sts springs is currently ON regardless of the
number of people who actually purchase them. Brad has offered the
springs to us at $249 shipped in the US to make up for the delay on the
swaybars. Just mention the riviera performance board. I
have not seen it lower anywhere else.

Holy Crap Jack, no springs since April???

My KYB's are going on in 2 weeks, and I was thinking about aftermarket front springs and found this thread, hadn't read it before. Instead, think I'll go with new OEM's from my local dealer, $180/pr, and he'll have them in 3-4 days from Michigan. New struts may as well have shiny new springs...

definitely good idea, dave. I don't know how much spring wear is noticed on the riv but usually springs get pretty tired after about 100k miles. I know on most of gm's mid-sized passenger cars, you can literally see that the car sits lower past 100k. If it's to the point where ride hight is changed, it can wear out your new shocks faster also. Guys come in to my work all the time with trucks and minivans with 100+mi buying new shocks every year and never replacing the springs. The springs are what hold the weight of the car.

Summit shows Eibach springs for the 98/99 STS will ship by 9/26, priced at $299. I can get Pro Shop pricing at Summit, probably competetive with Never Enough Auto pricing. Part # EIB-3872-140 at www.summitracing.com
