| Has any one had any experience with the Cherrybomb Turbo II's? If so good / bad? They are 29.99 at AutoZone and I was thinking about getting a pair and having an exhaust shop fab up a 2.25 in cat back system for me. | |

| avoid. Although some people like the sound on V8s because they are loud, I don't think they will sound all that good on a SC V6. It is basically a straight through resonator. They are of poor quality (expect it to rust fairly rapidly if you live in the northeast) and will be very loud.
Performance-wise, I don't think they are that awesome refer back to page 2 for the flow ratings. 239 cfm. I never found the source for that article, and I always thought they were a bit low, but 239 is not good for a modded riviera.
2x239= 478 (because you have 2 mufflers) 478/2.2=217.27
217 is the amount of hp that system can support if you use those particular flow ratings. PLEASE take this FWIW because all the numbers seem low based on all the other tests I've seen.

| Subject: Hooker: Maxflow or Aerochamber? Fri Apr 27, 2007 2:26 pm | |
| Looking for someone who has either of these on their Riv and feedback on sound and drone.
My plan is to run ZZP 3" DP to Magnaflow (Carsound) 3" in/out cat, then either go 3" or 2.50" back to the split with either a single or dual above mentioned mufflers in 2.50" or 2.25". Might do the single muffler to eliminate the split and keep cost down.
Post your opinions and your set up, ie; stock DP / Cat / Res etc.
Thanks | |

| I would go with the max flows. They flow more than the aerochambers though both have excellent flow. They will be a bit louder because of the straight through design. The maxflows are almost an exact aluminized steel copy of the stainless steel dynomax ultra flos.
You may want to spring for a resonator, as it will really help control drone more. If you go for a single exhaust, I'd say go 3" dp, 3" resonator and a single 2.5" maxflow. If you want to go dual, 2 x 2.25 will support more hp than you will ever put out.

| Oh- I forgot to mention the resonator. ZZP has a 3" Flow Pro which is chambered, or a 3" "whisper" resonator which is a straight thru with serated tubing to remove ALL drone according to ZZP rep. | |

| There is no way your going to get your car to sound like a V8. Only a loud/deep V6 I have flowmaster 40 series on my car with no resonator. I think it sounds great. Others like the turbos. There was someone on here (won't mention any names) who had straight pipes before his mother made him take it off and that sounded pretty good too | |

| Its all personal preferance. I like the flowmaster sound but I also have never heard the straight pipes up close only online. I'll get you a sound clip of my flowmasters in a little while. | |

| A cam makes these engines sounds pretty good, imo. Otherwise, I prefer to keep it quiet. V6 = noise. Straight pipes would be almost as loud and annoying as TYPING IN ALL CAPS! _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| no they just have good marketing. They consistently turn out close to last in flow tests and hp tests, but people like the sound. Check out the the flow specs. They get their "unique" sound with their chambered design, which basically bottles up the exhaust and slams exhaust pulses into each other. Sure, it will outflow old OEM stuff but if you can get a muffler that flows 3 times as much for the same price, why go with the flowmaster? I think most modern (good quality) aftermarket mufflers will yield similar results on a DD and the choice is really about what the owner thinks of the sound. But flowmaster, to me, is one of the few bad choices out there. VERY low bang for the buck
this article makes for interesting reading. FWIW

| clubgp thread on flowmasters More Mamamore More GTPs have a similar exhaust set up, with a resonator and dual muffs. I have no personal experience with flowmasters on the l67, but people seem to complain about the teeth chattering drone. Other folks love it I suppose. Flowmasters prolly sound awesome on turbos and V8s. I am very happy with my Borlas, and I plan to keep them until my mom makes me change them. What about those: Dynomax Hemi Super Turbo? Maybe these are just as good as the Borlas for half the cost?... | |

| I received my slp headers and HP tuner today. Should be installed by tomorrow. custom intake has been made (4" polished aluminum with custom box keeping out engine bay heat). Will have the rest of the exhaust installed first of next week... 3" ss pipe back to the Y then 2.5" out the end. Need to find which mufflers would sound the best for the sc 3800. Are there mufflers specifically for turbo or supercharged apllications? I wan't some noise but yet need it civil. | |
