| Maybe if I pulled the SC pulley first it would be easier to do the seal? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Yeah the way I see it you SHOULD be able to put it in. It may be tricky getting them in and out, probably need something longer to put down there.
I will probably buy from INTENSE as they are not too far from me.

| I'm buying from INTENSE as well.. will save on shipping, and they should be able to answer our question as well. ZZP isn't closer to you? What part of MI are they located? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Plain City is 2 hours away. Grand Rapids, MI is 3 hours away. I didnt know either was so close. When I bought something from INTENSE I had it shipped and I was surprised shipping took like a day, Thats until I looked at the origin address lol. Either way if I drive there or be lazy and have it shipped I'll have it fast. | |

| Well I just ordered my coupler change kit and new seal. Had it shipped as I don't want to drive while my s/c is so leaky.
But did we ever figure out how easy/hard it is to change out the snout seal?

| Lol. Anyone have a pic of the inside of a s/c snout? Or is that another thing I should make sure to do. I'll take pics of stuff anyway, but IIRC the tut for this has some good pics. | |

| Found this pic: It doesnt look very inviting... Looks like the pulley needs to come off. Anyone have a puller tool I can use if that is the case? | |

| Alright Aaron, and all those interested. I visited a place I had forgotten about. A world full of useful info, that place is RegalGS. Didnt realize you all still frequent that place as much as you do. But here is what I found out: The snout seal is located behind the pulley. You need to use a puller and pull the pulley off (or use a press since you have the snout off). Then there is a metal clip behind the pulley, the holds the seal in, rmove that, then you need to remove the seal.
Installation is the reverse of these steps.
This was my buddy removing my snout seal on my Gen V M62: [img] [/img] Now I need a puller... Credit for the above italicized info and pic go to Marchi1 from RegalGS.org

| you can borrow mine as I mentionned in a previous post, but I can only ship it to you next Wednesday. You would have to order a threaded rod from ZZP
I require no deposit and you can keep it for a reasonable amount of time.
certainly better than paying 100$ for a new one you will use once...
Failing that, you could always go to some guy with a hydraulic press and just push off the pulley. I got some old dude in my neighbourhood to do it for 5$
let me know. Jason
PS install a 3.4 pulley while you are at it

| I might have to settle for 3.5 as I do not have the right supporting mods yet nor a scanner But you do have me thinking.... I posted on the other tread about rental. As long as shipping doesnt take too long I will take you up on the offer. Just point me in the direction of the part I need to buy for your puller. Cat delete enough with what I have for a 3.4 ya think? | |

| Thanks Troy. I've never had mine off. I assume you can use the puller with the snout off the car? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| you can pull the s/c pulley with the snout off the car but its much easier to do with it on b/c you don't need to brace it. i suspect the hardest part will be carefuly placing the lower (closer to the housing) bearings so that they are properly seated. the outer bearing and seal should go much smother. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Subject: 3.4 s/c pully upgrade now leaking oil from snout Mon Apr 14, 2008 3:30 pm | |
| i just changed my s/c pully to a 3.4, and now i am noticing an oil leak. i think it is coming from the snout bolt filter. where you put on the pully. the bolt that goes on the end off the snout has a brass screen on it and it seemes to be leaking s/c oil. any suggestions? i just put new oil in it,and filled it up to the threads. when i changed the pully i also cleaned out that bolt with the brass screen in it. the car does run alot smoother after the pully change no noticable knock either. | |

| Oil will bleed out that breather nut until it is at a level it likes. Just keep an eye on it. | |

| I had the same problem. The oil would come out the end of the snout, even seep through the mounting screws on the pulley, slinging up onto the hood liner. After a while, it stopped. I add oil occasionally, but it never gets so low that I'm concerned. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |
