| Has anybody replaced the factory tranny pan gasket with the fel-pro one? I have changed my fluid 3 times and I think my original gasket with 168K is starting to leak finally and the GM replacment is $40 where as the fel-pro is only $13. | |

| I would take a good look at the fel-pro and compare it to our OEM. The OEM is a fantastic gasket, it appears to be a rubber coated metal. I don't know if I got a new one with my rebuild or not, but it's still the OEM type, and it's still holding up well. I will never use one of those cork or thin rubber/foam ones that comes with a trans filter.
If it were mine, I would replace with OEM or something just as good. have you checked that all the bolts are tight on the pan? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| As long as the replacement gasket has metal spacer rings around each bolt location you should be okay. The stocker is well worth the $40 as it prevents you from crush bending the tranny pan. Look for discounts from the big online GM parts dealers (GMpartsdirect, Monsterpartsonline, etc). | |

| Based on my long experience with the OEM metal core gasket on the Riviera, and now a similar design on our Ford Taurus Duratec V-6, I would keep reusing the factory "reusable" gaskets until they leak or appear damaged when you remove them. | |
