| I'm wondering what kind of differential is in my '99. Just to check it out the other day I went old school on it. I turned off the traction control and nailed it from a dead stop. It left two nice tire marks about 20' feet long. To me this indicates a posi(limited slip) but I heard FWD's don't have posi's unless you install them. I'm wondering if that is the way a FWD acts when there is tire slip by both tires but it will act like an open rear when one tire grabs. Anybody know what ours have or any other information? All you racers should know. | |

| It's not positive traction or LSD, but It acts like posi as long as the wheels are straight and the road surface is consistent. Things change when you shift the weight of the car in a turn, or hit the throttle with one wheel in the wet, sand, etc. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| That makes sense as to why the tires spin equally. It just has to do with equal loading of the tires. I wouldn't think that normal driving affects the differential but doing burnouts at the drags with your tires in the water and one tire smoking and the other not moving would potentially cause problems. I'm wondering if anybody has tried the Intense posi or any of the other units available and how are they working, especially in terms of any problems on the street(noise or anything like that). | |

| I searched online for retailers selling those Quaife LSD's and there are a bunch that list it and don't stock it. I tried buying one from two different vendors not long ago and gave up after that. They don't have 'em. From the reply messages I got, I'm told there would have to be a group buy of at least 10 for any production request to be made.
Also, there's a few varieties of clutch LSD's out there. [Intense, C-Ya racing, Engineered Performance, Etc.] They work reasonably well for about 30,000mi with a pretty big variance, and after that basically turn into an open diff with sloppier side gears and leave some extra clutch material in your transmission fluid. Also to be noted those diff's are modified stock parts so it's not any stronger unless you get the improved pinion gear shaft and then it's almost worth it - addresses the weakest piece of the diff. | |

| If I had an extra $1500 laying around, and our stock diff weren't already indestructible, then for sure I'd have one. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |
