PostSubject: Interior makeover   Interior makeover EmptySun Jan 18, 2009 6:29 pm

I've finally become so annoyed with my old dirty, scratched interior so i've decided to repaint it all. It's currently tan, but it will be high gloss black when i'm finished. I started on it yesterday and got all but a couple of trim pieces out.
I got about 6 pieces sanded up to around 250 grit, and 4 of those I layed the first couple of coats of primer on. Today I got the seats up and got the front carpet repainted because it's faded alot since the last time I did it, you definitely need to run your hand across the carpet and rub it deep down, which I failed to do the previous time which lead to only the surface being painted. Here's some pics of todays progress.

Dont paint the top of the dash gloss back or you wont be able to see for the glare.

Well I didn't even think of that but I wasn't going to paint it, my friends dad gave me the idea today of just getting some sort of mat for the top of it, if it looks good enough i'll probably do that, or just leave it tan.. some ghetto two tone haha but w.e my seats are gonna be tan, and my interior black, it doesn't sound ideal, but maybe I can find some grey seats eventually.

Hit the seats with SEM Black, they make a leather dye/paint in a rattle can.

Pretty nice , but why not just go with a wood dash kit? They're not too expensive and the sherwood kit looks great IMO.

I would have but it wasn't just my dash that was unbearable, my center console and all of those pieces were scratched and ugly, maybe in the future I'll get the dash kit as I do love the look of them.

I just got the dash back on, I went to go pick up some body clips and macguire's and it started raining, so I'll finish cleaning it all up and get the running board trim pieces back in tomorrow.

Good find! I'm probably going to try to sell my passenger tan seat and put that towards two grey ones, my drivers side is pretty ripped frown

Polished it up a bit, looks alot better now. I still don't have the floor trim or the center console lid in as you can see. It still has a long way to go, but it's a step in the right direction.

Duplicolor auto paint, and yeah haha I did. Autozone sells a rattle can made by Rust-Oleum for fabric and vinyl that replaced a similar "carpet paint" made by duplicolor. As far as I can tell, the new stuff is alot better and adheres much better, if you plan on doing it get some rubber gloves and rub the paint into the carpet between coats and it works pretty well.
