| This is what I got This is what I want (XK8 interior) too much to hope for I know. Has anyone here got seats re-appolstered (sp?) whether it be the Riv or another car? How much does that kind of customization cost? | |

| Haven't done the Riv yet, but I have done other cars. Prolly $1400 to $2000 depending on the grade of leather you choose. (Suede will be cheaper Travis ) | |

| an exact replica would be preffered but I think a wood dash kit and some steering wheel accents would chop at the majority of the makeover. And for $1400-$2000 price range it would be cheaper to do that than to get new seats in a light color. | |

| Price can range greatly. I would do it, and replace the seat insets with perforated leather. Also, are you doing this to gain head clearance? I have friends that are over six feet tall, and they are always having their car seats altered. | |

| i thought about having the center console revamped, like push button start on the shifter with a tiptronic manual area like almost all new cars have. just to make it more modern. the cost for the custom work would probably be through the roof _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | If your city or county has a local hot rod meet, there is place to ask where to get things done regarding upholstery. There's one that meets every Thursday night where I live, and it's free. | |

| yesterday at Walmart I noticed a certain brand of car seat covers that also included separate head rest covers.
If you don't want the seat covers return them and explain that this kit did not include the headrest covers.

| don't tease me with such beauty That would be perfect for the Riv. It's got the simple design they were trying to accomplish, it's got that nice metal accent, and luminous blue gauges Now take that idea a step further and imagine it with these leather color options: Camel/Tan Butter Creme' (seen in Chrysler Firepower!) Black (for those who need it j/k) Brick Red (Chrysler Crossfire) Bright Red or Blue Leather (Pontiac GTO) and of course someone would have to tell Buick to free up the restrictions on matching exterior to interior allowing such combos as black /w red leather | |

| Am I the only one who thinks the XK8's interior looks like crap?
Given the Racera theme, I'd go with a black carbon fiber dash kit for starters. Most of the interior panels could be pulled and hit with SEM as needed. I did the panels on my Charger and they came out great. It's hard to keep dust out of the dye as it dries, but they're usually dusty anyway so it doesn't look as bad as it sounds.
The seats that are good can likely be dyed. You've said the leather is beat up though. I would guess $300 each for new leather.

| beyond a seat swap, it's just not practical. The dash and stuff will not fit. It's a different body. Although they seem like kind of similar cars, they are definitely not interchangeable. Consider the doors are totally different, all inner body panels are no where near compatible and the front dash as pretty unique in the riv. It would be more sensible to do a straight up fully custom interior on the riv, which JMO is blasphemous as this is one of the best interiors ever.
I can identify with you that red is definitely not my favorite and i particularly LOVE the full black interior of Mark VIII's and think that would be pretty cool in a riv if done well. I'm happy with tan though.

| Yeah, the only way you should get the Eldo interior is if you get the exterior with it. How could it possibly ever fit the Riv? | |

| The best advice would be to emulate what you saw. Sure it won't be the same but you might be able to mimic some of the interior details you really like.
I think Eldorados are extremely hot. I still want one blk on blk. ESC or ETC doesn't matter to me.
