| Did 1997 Rivieras come with them or only driver side? I'm looking to possibly buy one in CT if I can get enough $$ for it and the only button I see is on the driver side. A few people I've spoken to said the one button controls both. If I don't have dual heaters, I'd like to install one on the passenger side.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
I'm a new member here but a long member of regalgs and clubgp.
Thanks in advance.

| I don't think the riviera in 97 (my year also) came with duals. I have just the driver. I may be wrong but I think thats the way it was.
by the way WELCOME!

| The riviera never came with duals. The only car like ours was the cadillac sls and sts. so i think your best bet is to just take the seats out a caddy that way the only thing have to do is do the wireing and a power swich. | |

The 99 Riv could be bought with dual heated seats(got one), I would imagine that for the 98 also it was an option. Bert

| I find that really interesting. You'd think a flagship car like the Riv would get dual heated seats... a few of the reviews about the 1997 stated it had both seats heated but I'm guessing the reviewer wasn't paying close attention to the passenger side. Thanks for the info guys. Maybe I'll see if I can find a 1998 interior to swap the parts over. (if i get the car) edit: Thanks also to Tony for referring me to this site! | |

| Maybe Mr. Morad can help me in this regard. Hmmmm.... I still find it ridiculous that the Riv didn't get them until 1998 when the Auroras had them through their entire production run. | |

| 98 and 99 had dual heated seats as an option.
You can buy seat heater kits (use google to find them), but before you do might want to pull the passenger seat and see how the cover is installed. So that you know how they would go in.
Might be able to get a door panel from Ed Morad with the seat heat switch in. Most addon seat heaters come with a 3-way switch, it may or may not be a problem for you that the new one won't match the other one.

| My '98' has both heated front seats. Each side has a control on it's door. My drivers side hasn't worked since I bought it, although the switch lights up when pressed. I haven't taken the time to research the problem yet. I'm thinking after reading on the subject here, it might be the elements or broken wiring... | |

| Or the thermistor that senses the amount of heat in the seat. | |

| Or it might be the fact that the module and switch are fed from an IP fuse, and the actual heating elements are fed from a larger rear seat fuse...
And from what I've seen, the passenger heated seat and lumbar support didn't go in until '98.

| Without looking at the wiring diagram yet, I would think you have a good chance of fixing this easily if you still have the lighting of the switch in the door panel. that would indicate the relay is still working at least. | |

that would indicate the relay is still working at least. My money's on the fuse or thermistor - and it'd be smart to figure out *why* if it's the fuse. Albertj

| I'm in the same boat - door switch lights up but no heat. I believe I only checked one fuse, though. I'll have to look at the big ones.
Before I lost my heat, I had a _funny_ smell coming whenever I did have my seat heater on, like melting wires. I was never able to pinpoint the location, and everything under the seat looks okay. When the heat stopped coming, I wasn't exactly surprised.
