bath caulk works fine to glue the centers on the wheels but not well to glue the tabs on the centers. For that a construction adhesive or Gorilla Glue is what you have to use, or an epoxy if you can get it on right. Albertj

| Subject: Satisfactory fixes for Chrome wheels with plastic tabs on Center Cap? Tue Jun 14, 2011 1:16 pm | |
| Has anyone discovered a way to save the center caps once the tabs have broken off? How about a way to keep em from breaking? I have noticed that an overfilled gas tank filler can leak into the drivers side rear wheel center cap, and when brakes are applied, the cap blows off--ka-pow!!! | |

| there have been posts about people epoxying tabs back on, and as a preventive move affixing epoxy fillets to the tab bases before they crack or when they first crack. None of the center caps on my car are original (they are all OE from the dealer but they are not the ones came with the car) The last original one I had was broken almost 2 years ago by a ham-handed tire tech. The gray ones on the silver painted alloys last MUCH longer. Albertj | |

| Just for jollies, you don't suppose the gray ones would fit our chrome wheels for a kind of "different" look? | |

"different" look? No. The edges are scalloped and there is an indexing tab to contend with. I would not bother. what you *CAN* do is get the aftermarket plain chrome plate ones, they pop up on ebay from time to time. Turns out the automakers have no imagination when it comes to sizing those wheels and the center caps as a result come in fairly common sizes. Just do a search you will find them. Also from time to time some wag offers them with the "R" laser-cut in. At least until the GM logo gendarmes (justifiably) ring his/her chimes.

| What up riv experts? Im trying to find 2 chrome center caps w/ the gold R engraved in it to match the two i currently have on my vehicle. I took a pic of one of em. Also, I was browsing the forum and I think someone said these center caps were specially made for some maroon 95 rivieras like mine. Anyone got any info or a place I could start looking? | |

| Those are going to be tough. The regular embossed chrome caps are hard enough to find. I've never even seen that wheel style on a Riv before. Almost looks like a special aftermarket set. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

Ryan, The center caps came with the wheels when I bought them from a coworker. One of the caps had the metal covering separating from the plastic underneath. I bought a new one here: http://www.hubcapsandcentercaps.com/buick-riviera.html They are expensive though. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

Rick, I tried E Bay for months. Most of the center caps available were for the painted wheels. The chrome center caps are harder to find. I also tried Morad. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| So this is the style that is the most popular/needed I assume?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-Riviera-Chrome-Center-Cap-P-N-9592595-/270936144269?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f150d798d&vxp=mtr
I was browsing ebay, and came across this auction. This is of course the style I need, and of course it's nearly $50 right now just for one.
It's almost more cost effective to spend ~$60 for a set of less specific ones, most I've been seeing have an indented circle in the middle.

Yes, I have 4 of those, in great shape, on my chrome wheels. I also have a set of the aftermarket caps. I put them on if I need to park somewhere where I need to worry about them. I'm probably being over cautious. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU
