leaky water pump Empty
PostSubject: leaky water pump   leaky water pump EmptyMon Apr 13, 2009 6:11 pm

I have coolant dripping from what looks to be the waterpump. I dont have any loose hoses, and it seems as if the leak is where there is a gasket on the waterpump. I am new to these kind of cars. Can I just pull the front of the pump off, replace the gasket and be good to go, or do I need to replace the pump? How bad is it to get out ( I am used to V engines and this sidemount crap is really confusing me ) ,........

Click above for a write up on replacing the water pump.
Considering the amount of labor to access it I would recommend replacing it.

Water pumps have a 'weep hole' to let coolant leak out as a preemptive warning to bearing failure. When the bearing starts to fail, the water pump starts to leak. It's probably the pump.
