| like i said, fill it up, watch the gauge, and then when it looks to be lower then normal after only a few miles fill it up again and see if it is actually using that much fuel. you still smell no fuel around the car? is the exhaust smoking? have the guy at aamco at least read the code, but i dont know that i'd pay them to do anything other than double check the work the've already done. | Wellll, that's a whole different thing then. That's good that you have that support at home. Nothing like someone else figuring out the problem for you. I've been working on someone's motorcycle for the past few days and it's kicking my ass. I'm supposed to be the expert on these things and this one is giving so much trouble I'll never make any money on this job. Thought it was a simple electrical problem to start with and it's turned into a nightmare. I'll figure it out though, not giving up. | |

| I've already consulted with some people I know in the business. This is one of those problems that comes along once in a great while that defies logic. I just have to stick with it and go over everything I've already done and triple check wiring until I find the Gremlin causing the problem. I don't do this for a living anymore but I have a fully equipped shop at home and a few of my own motorcycles. I just take in occasional work. Sometimes the problem jobs that nobody else could fix. This is one of those bikes. It belongs to my carpenters wife and she has had it to a few shops that couldn't fix it and she begged me to take it in and I said YES. What a mistake. But like I said I'll eventually find the problem, it just takes patience and a clear head. I have to take breaks frequently and just think this one through. | |

| One of the worst gremlins I dealt with was when a Fram gas filter fragged and stuck the needle valve open on an '83 Mercury Lynx (Ford Escort).
The symptom was the car would run OK for a while then act flooded---on opening the gas tank filler cap to check for vapor lock, the fuel poured out of the opening onto the street in a stream - kind of like the car version of the Brussels Boy.
after troubleshooting for a while (days)between jobs and asking for "advice" from mechanics and Ford's district manager, I got frustrated and tore the carb apart myself. Found the problem and reported it. About month and a half later Ford issues a recall.
Bottom line for me RIck is you've offered some of the best advice on this board. Isn't there any way we can help you with this one?

| Thank you for the offer Albert but I'm too deep into this to bring anyone else up to speed quickly, As I've said I WILL find this problem or I should say problem(s). Hopefully I'll finish it up today and everyone will live happily ever after. Thanks again for the offer, Rick | |

| so...i drive pretty much no where....5 miles at most for food..then back home...seriously...so i had my cam sensor "fixed" (using the term loosely) id say maybe 2-3 weeks ago. i drove it 2.2 miles to the store...JUST as i am about to pull into the parkin lot. corner of my eye...bright and yellow...checkk engine light. my blood pressure jumps around 30 points.. so i go in and get my stuff. 10-15 mins go by and go drive home...no light.... 2morro will be my true test...im driving about 50-60 miles.
Who wants to bet its the Cam Sensor error? since its been a few weeks...do i still have the right to have the guy who fixed it to not only rescan it...but to fix it, at his cost. NOT mine

| Yes, of course. If you went to shop and have a copy of the Repair Order it may have a statement regarding warranty. Most shops have either 90 day, 6mo or 12 mo. parts and labor. It all depends on where you went. If it is indeed the sensor again you can expect it to be fixed for nothing. But don't get in anybody's face about it until they scan it and tell you what they plan to do. | |

| i have the bill in front of me..it doesnt say anything about a warranty.. it was called Adelphia Auto Service not sure if its a small business or a national name... i dont plan on gettin into anyones face...im not that type of person...if it gets to that point...i call my father..him being a service guy and all..and have him talk to them. i avoid confrontation. lol | |

| ok...so how unlucky/weird as hell is this... so as mentioned a couple posts up the SES light popped on..was off on the way home...well i did my drive to the marlins game..about 80 miles total..NOT ONE SES LIGHT the ENTIRE time. i figured maybe the previous day was a fluke...
it wasnt. today i went to drive my little 2.2 miles to the store..and back.. light was on the ENTIRE way to and from. i shut if off...restarted it..still there..i can notice a difference in its driving too. im going oto call the guy 2morro..but cmon now...how weird is this..80 miles nothing...5 miles..lights solid from start to finish

| called the guy who fixed my car today....just my luck....hes goin out of town 2moro-monday. i double checked to see if hes charging me to have him look at it. said nope..hed scan it and diagnose it for free, and well go from there. i am pretty sure the cam sensor itself was not the problem. man i cant win! lol | |
