injector o-rings Empty
PostSubject: injector o-rings   injector o-rings EmptyFri Jun 05, 2009 2:59 pm

my brother has a 96 sc series 2 engine. his o rings are leaking on his injectors. after going to oriely's to get the o-rings, i noticed that he has 3 o-rings per injector. the part store only gave me 2. it appears the 3 o-ring sits at the bottom of the injector right below the lower o-ring. my question is has anyone replaced the orings on their injectors with just the 2 piece set from parts store, and if so did they leak? help me, cause im tired of giving this dude rides to work. gas is high as hell.

i've got a 98 series 2 and it only requires one o-ring on the bottom of injector.
I would think an additional o-ring in that area would actually cause a problem.
When you order an o-ring kit from GM it only comes with 12 o-rings total, 2 per injector.

2 rings per injector, one per end. Putting 2 on one end probably helped it leak, imo.

agree

somebody pulled the injectors out and didn't notice the o-ring didn't come with it. Plus there is a lower retainer that's probably broken off, may be sitting below that o-ring too.

Use a small pick with a hook on the end to feel down in the injector ports and remove any o-rings or broken retainers before installing new o-rings and injectors.
Broken retainers are not uncommon and the injector is still usable without the lower o-ring retainer.
