Is my fuel injector bad? Empty
PostSubject: Is my fuel injector bad?   Is my fuel injector bad? EmptyWed Nov 19, 2014 7:36 pm

When my uncle and I were pulling my fuel injectors out for the LIM gasket install, it seemed like they were never going to come off. There was so much gunk build up around them, that they were almost glued in place. In the process of changing the o-rings and cleaning them off, I noticed that where the o-ring sits, there's a little lip that you have to slip them over. I'm assuming It's just there to hold the o-ring in place, but I'm not sure. One of the injectors is completely missing it, and another has a little piece that broke off. Is this bad? Will anything bad happen?

Those discs are brittle and have something to do with the spray pattern. I've seen them run with and without them and it doesn't seem to make any difference in the long run. As far as I know they aren't part of a typical injector service kit (mainly O-rings) and are pretty hard to come by.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Mr. Injector replaces those discs as part of rebuild service. I got a set back with all intact - could've sworn one was chipped beforehand.

Mr. Injector says he replaces filters, o-rings, spacers and pintle caps. I'm assuming the pintle caps are what I'm missing.

So, for $85.50 (includes shipping), I can get perfectly cleaned injectors. Hmm.
