| Related to my last post here....
Can oil leak past the fuel injectors? If so, is it hard to replace those?
Just curious!
Gracias! | |

| You should not have any oil coming from the fuel injectors at all. They are sealed in the heads with O-rings. If there is truly oil coming out you have an engine problem not an O-ring problem. Excessive blow by from the combustion chambers. Highly unlikely unless you are noticing excessive oil consumption as well. More than likely you have oil seepage from the valve cover gaskets collecting in the area where the fuel injectors are. | |

| I'm with Rick. The highest oil is VC gaskets. Then there is possible seepage up the bolts of the LIM that will pool in the lower areas of the LIM. Other than that, you should see any oil on top of the motor. | |

| Okay I agree. I believe the oil that's in the "valley" the injectors sit on is just seepage from the valve cover gaskets collecting there. These new gaskets I put on should solve that problem.
Thanks! | |

| Nate, Clean up those area's where the oil has puddled up. Use compressed air if you have it or sop it up with shop towels and spray some brake clean in there to help You don't want oil on top of the injector O-rings. It can cause harm if left in contact with O-rings. | |

| I expect that the oil you see has seeped up around the LIM bolts. It's very common. Expect it to return even with your new valve cover gaskets. | |

| some of what you see could be crud mixed with fuel from the egr spitting back into the manifold. happened to me and i determined that was the cause....but it was not oil. just dirty spent exhaust mxied with fuel... | |

| well, my main goal on all this is to stop the two drops of oil I see every time I drive...one I belive is the oil pan gasket..but the other I've traced back as far up the back of the block as I could see...it's above the rear header...so I figured it was the valve cover gasket.
when I took the valve cover gasket off, the old gaskets were fine, not torn or ripped, however they were soaked with oil...I assume they just stopped being able to block oil seepage...
The new gaskets went on okay, but I'm waiting on a part before I start it back up..
And I plan to wash down the top of the engine good before I put the cover back on to wash away any old oil & such..
Hopefully...no more drops

If the job is done properly you should not have any seepage. When you pull LIm bolts you should notice that there is a white sealant on them. Wire wheel them clean and put a good dab on the threads before reinstalling the bolts. I use GM Pipe Sealant with PTFE, however Permatex most likely makes an equivalent that can be picked up at local parts stores.
