I'm going green! 102_2760

With my replacement coupler from ZZP, that is. tongue

Car's in the shop right now getting the coupler replaced, along with a new Fel-Pro upper intake gasket, snout gasket, and GM supercharger oil. We think the coupler is what was making that weird belt noise I posted a topic about before, and as it wore more and more the noise got louder and developed into that chugging I was hearing. Now it'll idle nice and smooth, and quiet!

Dealer estimate is $290 for the labor, by the way.

It will last about 80k miles, then you'll need to do it again. ZZP boasts this material is better than OEM, but mine is starting to rattle again. I'm going to try a different one this time, or make my own.

I hope mine isn't the same, I bought the ZZP one BECAUSE it was claimed as overengineered compared to the OEM one. Either way, it takes me a year and a half to put 10,000 miles on my car, and I won't even be driving next year. I don't expect longetivity to be a crucial thing in my case.

Checking my records, I overestimated a bit. I changed mine in late Sept 2007, so that would mean I've only put on about ~45k miles since.

Look at it this way: if the ZZP part is softer and wears out more quickly, it means the other parts of the supercharger are probably seeing less wear. Being mine's Series II, it's not a big deal to change it, so I don't mind as much. Still, I'd like for it to last 100k like the OEM did.

I'll bring them up on false advertising if my stock coupler lasts 100,000 miles and theirs doesn't.
