Tire Rattling Empty
PostSubject: Tire Rattling   Tire Rattling EmptySun Jul 12, 2009 1:29 am

I've been experiencing some sort of rattling from the rear tires. It usually happens when I hit a small bump in the road, or even when I'm just driving on flat surface.

At first I thought the sound was coming from a loose muffler or something, but it wasn't that. I kicked the tire and I can hear the rattling from it. Any thoughts as to what it can be?

Could be a loose lug nut. Take of the center caps and inspect.

If nuts are tight, could be a broken lug. Take off the rear wheels to check.

Also could be a loose shock mount...

if you have car parked, wheels on ground, and you kick a tire and it rattles - could it also be the wheel bearing?

Yea it rattles when it's parked. When it's moving it's almost like a little squeak. It's a weird noise.

Did you actually jack it up and take a look yet? Not sure anyone can tell you anything else, I think you are going to have to get out the tools...

I haven't been able to yet. Really busy with work and summer classes. I appreciate all the feedback though. I kind of have some sort of an idea of what to look for when I do jack it up.
