shifter help Empty
PostSubject: shifter help   shifter help EmptySat Nov 07, 2009 11:08 pm

Hey yesterday i went to put my car out of park and the shifter was incredibly hard to get into gear. Now ever since, the button has no resistance, its really easy to push. And it can slide through every gear without pushing in the buttons.
Anybody know what is wrong?

probably managed to break the gate. might need new interlock.

That is, when you take the Riv out of park as you know you have to step on the brake to release the interlock. I imagine you can get it our of park without foot on brake but it would be really hard and you would break the shifter - which is what I suspect happened to you this time.

I suggest contacting Ed Morad for parts to replace the innards of the shifter in the floor console. Ed has a bunch of Rivs in recently, should not be a big deal.
