heh, find a way to lift the m62 and you can have one too. The screwing around involved lifting it is what pushed me down the path of swapping in the Ford SC M90, since I would be doing custom work anyway. _________________

| Mcmaster carr sells 1" x12"x24" phenolic material for like $75. You would need 2 of them to make a core. Plus you need the radiator. I am not questioning the deal here, just wanted to get some input on the seller. Seems Ed has enough presence in the 3800 crowd to hand over $400.
Will advise if i find otherwise. Matthew
Still like to know exactly what Mark bought for $135 on ebay. Thats about what the FMHE's go for used... _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | That core he uses has a very high fin per inch number and the fluid channels to go with it. I can't see it being bad. I'm sure it's worth the money he wants and some.

| Not disputing the existence of cheaper cores, or knocking the idea of budget builds, but FYI...
For anyone interested, the above pictured core is made from a fluid cooler. It is designed to cool fluid passing through it not air passing across it. Thermodynamics and heat exchanger science is tricky, but interesting. The basic thinking that just because heat can move in one direction efficiently that it can also do the same in the other direction with the same transfer is wrong.
Will a core primarily designed to cool liquid still cool the air-stream? well, better than no cooler, but you get what you pay for. If you are going to the trouble to inter-cool, might as well do it properly with a purpose designed water to air heat exchanger. The differences in heat transfer efficiency is astounding, and since the dwell time across the IC core is so short with our superchargers; we need all the efficiency we can get. _________________

| From the pic it looks like the radiator core hoses are located at the top. That might have been originally made for the m90 on the older t-birds. Hopefully you can adapt it to fit the riv and the hoses dont get in the way of the fuel injectors. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. Everything should be for fun! Especially for cars. Once it stops being fun, it should stop being done! Exactly! Im new to the whole GM scene, so Im learning as I go....if the gains are minimal, then I wasted $135, but learned a lot! I figured it was a good trade off. | |

| That intercooler looks like its from minichopper6hp from grandprixforum.net. I didn't know he was still making them. He was banned for scamming on the forum, but don't know any of the details. I saw one of his intercoolers at the dragstrip, it worked well.
Looks like this one. http://www.grandprixforums.net/custom-gen-v-phenolic-intercooler-many-extras-special-price-one-day-only-36550.html

| Just got my core in the mail (was shipped out Monday). It looks every bit as good as the pictures. Nice job on the CNC work. | I think those cores are a bit smaller than what zzp sells. If you're intercooling go big or go home. | |

| Can only go so big before you need to worry about hood clearance. I think the SSIC was a nice mod for the price. Almost bought one a while ago, but it was just a little too much at the time, and didn't really need it for daily use. I may reconsider at some point, if I decide to race the Riv some more. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| The ones he is selling are the biggest you will be able to go without removing the under hood liner and touching the hood. I bought one from Ed a long time ago and im still happy with it. I am interested in hearing what's changed. maybe ill sell mine cheap to someone on here looking for a deal and ill buy the "new" version _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | So, this core is comparable to the ZZP SS Intercooler Core? Or is it made to perform with the full size? | |

| It is compatible in size to stage 2 intercooler, full size. It has a little better fins per inch 32 versus 28 and the length width and thickness are the same or slightly bigger.
The PCV works with the stock manifold. You can open up the manifold inlet for better flow but you don't have to.
Don't forget 1-1-2 thick phenolic and a better price.

| whys it look like the fins are at an angle and not parallel with the cutout ? Just curious. LOL zzp says, "28 fins per inch (much higher than any of our competitors)" I guess they dont know about Ed! And whats the S3? I only see short stacks, and S2s? | |
