| Simply changing to roller rockers isn't going to gain you much of anything noticeable. Unless you obtained the rockers for free, and need to change the VC gaskets anyway, don't bother IMO. | |

| If you use a higher lift ratio roller rocker, it's a noticeable difference. When I installed mine, my only other mods were a gutted air box and a smaller blower pulley.
Low-end power: not much effect in this area. Rockers help push the torque band higher, above 3500RPM. How much depends on other mods. You shouldn't noticeably lose low end torque just by adding roller rockers.
Gas mileage: I've seen exceptional MPG with 1.9:1 rockers on my Series II SC engine. I don't think they really improve the mileage, but they have no negative effect in my experience. Expect to keep your OEM highway economy with rockers, providing you stay out of high RPM!
Reliability: the rockers themselves should last a long, long time. Mine have been installed and daily driven for over 5 years and 140k miles. The engine has 220k miles currently. How it affects the upper valvetrain depends on a lot of things: supporting modes, lift ratio, and driving habits. A 1.8:1 lift ration should be very safe, and the rollers make for smoother valve lifts.

| Being that you have a 95 SC, here's your answers:
low end power: a little difference, but the real feeling is that it wakes the series one up in the high RPM
gas mileage: in theory any power adder will help fuel milage, BUT only if you keep your foot out of it.
Reliability: anytime you do something performance related you lower the reliability and longevity of the engine.
Is it a good idea?: that depends on how your situation fits with the above answers. The 95 has "semi" roller rockers stock, so your only gain is going to the 1.8 ratio.
The bottom line is this: If the car is just a toy and you have other daily drivers, then mod away. If you depend on it to get you to work everyday, mod with caution. _________________

| So do you guys think it is worth the price on intense, or should i look for another mod that might be more effective and less expensive? It seems like the series one is kind of limited unless you want to really change the internals, and i think a smaller pulley size would be pretty risky with a high mileage engine. | |

| My opinion is you are correct to worry more about increasing boost (pulley) vs. increasing flow (rockers). Increasing flow is one of the safer things you can do to a boosted engine. Add a downpipe to the exhaust, open up the intake, and you should be seeing some extra HP where you need it.
Karma is correct about increasing engine wear with mods. After you mod, you access the HP gain though the gas pedal. When you do this, you stress the engine; the upper valvetrain will be given a workout. A new timing chain and a fresh set of valve springs would be wise investments if you plan to rev above 4k often. Otherwise, our engines are excellent high-mileage work horses, even with a few performance tweaks. Even with 220k+ miles, I have very little fear hitting 6k RPM from time to time (in your case, a 5k ceiling is a good limit). _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

Got a link? The only specifically series one parts they have are the rockers. _________________

| Since roller rockers reduce friction and flow more air, could they reduce KR? | |

| Rockers certainly won't add any KR, and probably reduce it slightly when installed by themselves. In my case I didn't notice any more or less KR with rockers, but I did notice a bit more HP in the higher RPM. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Intense sells them. There is a link to their site on our forum's main page. They cost about $350. On intense's main page you can choose 3800 and then go to valve train and they are on the last page. | |
