| About 6 months ago, my battery went stone dead. I resuscitated the battery and all is good EXCEPT ever since then, the temp display now shows a 1 in front of actual readings. If it's 80 degrees outside, it shows 180. If I set the climate control to 74, it shows 174. Did something get zapped when I hooked up the battery charger? (I've never reversed cables, so I know it wasn't that) Has anyone else ever experienced this issue? | |

| I have not had this issue BUT it sounds plausible.
Did you disconnect the battery before charging it (probably not)? Really should.
Might try getting a climate control from a '97 or later Buick Riv or Park Ave at a pick-n-pull? The HVAC heads are available from GM but *mad* expensive.

| I have seen somewhere (an older thread here maybe?) this has happened before.
Try disconnecting your battery for 15 minutes - just following the logical conclusion that something went wrong during your power loss, it may clear if you lose power again! (but it may not.) | |

| With the quality of the circuit boards and soldering inside those HVAC heads, I suppose a small short could do it. A small piece of black electrical tape should do the trick until you can fix it. Just an idea if it really bugs you _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| Any other problems with your car's electronics? I know for a fact a high voltage situation will cause funny things to happen in the display. I also know a weak battery can take it's toll on the alternator. Might perform a quick check of your running system voltage just to rule that out. Should not be above 15.5 volts (13-15v is normal, depending on conditions). _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| I'd definitely try resetting via unhooking the battery. If you need one of these units, hunt through ebay. There are a lot of good deals on these things there. | |

| Thanks very much for the thoughts and tips, fellas. I'll try the battery disconnect trick first and see what happens.. there doesn't seem to be any other issues whatsoever.. just an errant 1 in the display. I will say, it FELT like 170 degrees this summer.. maybe it wasn't so far off. | |
