| Corey,Im glad you stayed with Buick. We found my son a 1995 Regal a few years ago. It's the best car he's had.One of my friends always says "Four doors, no waiting". I'm sure you'll "make it your own". Good luck.............. | |

| Not to piss on the parade , but do you have a built tranny lined up?
If not that thing is probably going to grenade pretty quickly after the headers/intercooler.
Regardless , you're going to have one hell of a build! | |

| I missed something somewhere along the way and never saw this topic somehow. In my opinion, the 9.5 c/r isn't a bad thing, and you seem like a willing young car enthusiast..... so I would highly recommend -grab a set of L67 heads -a dremel (i prefer the one with the 3' flex extension, and a high power fan to keep it cool) -some magnets to catch iron shavings (because they will get in your eyes no matter what glasses you have) -COMETIC HEADGASKETS!!!!! greatest thickness!!!!!!!!!! then, with a perment marker, mark off the interior boundries of the intake gaskets, and the head gaskets. -port to the exterior of the permenent marker. "GASKET MATCHING" ......Cheap mod, easy HP. -Get some stock valves that you dont need and place them in the heads so that you dont disrup the valve seat, and take 80 -120 grit flap wheels to the compression chamber, and smooth everything out to the point where there is no more stock casting, and to the exterior edge of the marker. "GASKET MATCHING!!!!" -Same with the exhaust depending on what headers you have, I have TOG EXTREMES so it is the size of the exhaust gasket. If you do it right, and keep stock head components, it will easy help with knock reduction. Or you could just drop a G or 2 on stage 2 or 3 heads. But it is a cheaper way to safer horsepower and the knowledge and experience will go a long way to understanding power. My heads turned out great, ,and the combustion chambers easily lowered the compression .2-.3. On top of 8.0-1 diamond pistons. add $18-22k more and you have a car that you couldn't catch a $100 bill in at WOT. OH YEAH DUMBASS!!!! I have a 97' burgundy center console sitting in my closet in perfect condition......it would match alot better than the grey/tan one u got. [img][/img] and this is ur piston after extreme detonation | |

| Heads went on a month ago in stock form. If there was time to spend days on porting back then, it would've been done, but there's no need when the point is to just make a basic 12-sec setup once headers/IC is added to the S1x build. Porting was forgone due to lack of the need on such a build. It would've been nice to take a few hours out of the way for it, but for what we're doing, it's not a max-effort build, just a street build with a low budget and a little extra modding done.
The cometics in big thickness would reverse some of the point of going with the L36 bottom. Doing that on an 8.0 Diamond setup makes more sense for a different power adder than the M90 (had a friend in MN do that with a prototype Stattama CSC build in 03-04, specifically to crank boost way up), but that's the opposite school of thought... 6 in one, half dozen in the other... raising boost or compression. Combining both safely makes things tingle.
The bad motor will come out of the Regal soon, and the engine I built for the old Riv has been re-painted with gold accents instead of red, to go into the Regal. Should only take me a couple days (except we're involved with a Richie Evans #61 memorial event on Tues-Wed, so the shop will be getting cleaned for some tours by the family, since it was his old race shop in the 70's-80's). Dealing with our active #47 Nascar Whelen Modified, and cleaning for the tours has been interfering with my 3800 time, but a break is coming up this week.
