Heads went on a month ago in stock form. If there was time to spend days on porting back then, it would've been done, but there's no need when the point is to just make a basic 12-sec setup once headers/IC is added to the S1x build. Porting was forgone due to lack of the need on such a build. It would've been nice to take a few hours out of the way for it, but for what we're doing, it's not a max-effort build, just a street build with a low budget and a little extra modding done.
The cometics in big thickness would reverse some of the point of going with the L36 bottom. Doing that on an 8.0 Diamond setup makes more sense for a different power adder than the M90 (had a friend in MN do that with a prototype Stattama CSC build in 03-04, specifically to crank boost way up), but that's the opposite school of thought... 6 in one, half dozen in the other... raising boost or compression. Combining both safely makes things tingle.
The bad motor will come out of the Regal soon, and the engine I built for the old Riv has been re-painted with gold accents instead of red, to go into the Regal. Should only take me a couple days (except we're involved with a Richie Evans #61 memorial event on Tues-Wed, so the shop will be getting cleaned for some tours by the family, since it was his old race shop in the 70's-80's). Dealing with our active #47 Nascar Whelen Modified, and cleaning for the tours has been interfering with my 3800 time, but a break is coming up this week.

Sounds like ou have some serious racing heritage around that shop.
Lots of high dollar Buick racers in that area.
Do you know the King of Long Island? Bruno

Always up for meeting new car pals. NYC is 4-5hrs southwest of here, so not too familiar with many car folks in that area.
Shop clean-up went great, tons of crap is at the curb for the garbage collection in a few hours. One up-side to not getting right onto the Regal transplant, is that there will be a very clean shop to work in. That always leads to much faster productivity.

which means me very happy, and ricers will be very sad next week, as well as mustang drivers.. but i think 1 hard part for me will be the engine break in period

I'm sure you guys have noticed as I have. When pulling a motor it's great to push the car out and clean down the engine bay. Makes the install a super clean and quick effort.

That's what I sent him in the last engine bay with on the old Riv... also simple green/orange cleaner work great, but since they include water, I don't reach for them as often. The WD-40 loosens up the grime nicely, and helps fight rust a bit in the future. Since it's not the best for rusty threads, like PB Blaster is, might as well put it to one of the other good uses.
Now that Corey's working, I don't think I'll have to leave the stock pulley "leash" on that setup for too long... since he'll be able to save up for headers and intercooler in the coming months. When the M90 comes off for that install, I'll port that & the intake manifold, and probably build him a nice N* 75mm tb setup as well. Should put him about a half-second faster than my street setup by fall, we'll see.

For some reason, the starter had the same issue we had on the Riv, with a weak ground. (I knew the Riv needed one replaced, cuz Corey cut that one... dunno why the Regal needed something I didn't remove, never had that issue on a W-body build before). Glad it was a quick fix & we had the part leftover.
Enjoy the glimpse into some of our big-boy toy shop, which Corey's gotten the chance to be included in lately. 8-) Always 3 things going on at once.

You cuss too much... vid language rated NC-19 by the neighborhood censors... meaning you're not even old enough to hear it.
I'm just rolling out of bed. Climbing all over that car yesterday to drop the motor in & hook it up, not to mention cleaning/loading 2 race sleds for a city parade that's going on right now... wore me out.
Today's tasks: - find a spare s/c tensioner in my spare parts collection - check all fluids, and overall condition of new items - possibly get a non-HPT '98 GS bin file, so we can run the 2-bar again - fix wipers, or at least get them acceptable for DMV inspection
I'm getting up now, to showa & go sneak into my parts hide-out. See you around 2.

I'm pretty sure I have a stock '98 Regal GS bin file for DHP PT if you need it.

I noticed your Regal does not have a front STB?
My 2000 Regal LS has one. It looks like it would be very easy to install but on your car in the pics you posted I did not see the bolts where it would mount... Perhaps a 98Regal LS has a different STB than the 2000 Regal LS
