The Other Showroom: Current / Past Rides (Pt I)

Yup folks,your dear Robo is now the proud owner of a beautiful silver 1989 Dodge B250 Ram Van! I am contracted by a Vegas Casino to repair and refinish a large quantity of restaurant chairs,4 months or so of steady work! I absolutely need a delivery vehicle and the 89 B250 fits the bill perfectly.I can easily situate without any crowding at least 12 chairs or a large bed frame or two large Lazy Boy recliners.No problem!  The van will have paid for itself after a dozen or so deliveries.I paid the low end of KBB.the previous owner had the van in the family for over 20 years and had every maintenance record in a binder.he rattle canned it Silver (LA Raider fan) and it dont look half bad.She has a couple of issues,pulsating on braking a little & a couple of electrical issues.The 318 runs really smooth! Twice as smooth as my 95 with good power.No rust.
No plans as yet to modify other than general maintenance,but my grubby little paws are nervously grappling with my thoughts and planning all sorts of mayhem with paint accessories and...I gotta stop there! I promised myself it would only be a delivery van!  













Now if only I could find a " Ass grass or cash,nobody rides for free " sticker? it would be perfect!

Nice Robo, that paint job doesn't look bad @ all... I've seen wayyyyy worse with a spray can

you aint kiddin.The junk yard is littered with in-tank fuel pump lock rings that are so hard to keep from disintegrating back east! This B250 is so rust free it's funny!

I knew a popular guy in my home town that had that same framed van as his commuter vehicle. He had it set up with an after market cam/carb combination that gave amazing torque when laden and crazy gas mileage when unladen.

I think that van would be a lot of fun to run as long as possible..... Almost take as a challenge to see how long I could keep it running. I think it's awesome when I read where somebody's got 3/4/500k on an engine that's still running fine!

Does the a/c run in it and keep up with keeping the whole interior cool? I wouldn't be above tucking a clear shower curtain cut to length in that piece of attaching trim up above the extension trim you have just behind your seats to help with just cooling the front. I just acquired a new job where I drive a company van that is a ford E350 extended van with front and rear a/c and heating that doesn't work and all the stuff is behind racks of parts bins in the rear. Thinking the shower curtain is a quick resolve to the problem. But then again, some of the older stuff works better than the newer stuff.....

AC blows real cold.I could make a sealed plywood partition and upholster it.I might do that if I pick up some leftover ply. I might throw a few bucks at her and redo the front end.Nasty little 65 to zero brake shudder goin on.I'm thinkin it might be a rotor/links/caliper combo that's doin it. She rides real nice tho
