| Well, looks like mine may have bit the dust. From the symptoms listed in this thread it sounds like the forward band, but at the same time it might be something else. From a stop I SOMETIMES have to rev it out to get it to go anywhere, other times it works great. If I manually put it in first it works just fine all the time, if I leave it in drive it sometimes needs to be revved out. It's also very hesitant to go from first to second regardless of if it's in drive or manually selected, but any other gear seems to be engaging just fine. Fluid was about half a quart low, topped it off but haven't driven anywhere yet. Fluid also smelt burnt. Did not notice any leaks or smoke or abnormal noises. | |

| I'll just go ahead and assume that you like to manually shift your Riv, especially if your "road" racing? | |

| I usually leave it in drive. If I have it in manual it's because I know I'll never need to go above or below second (I hope that answers what you were asking). | |

| are you all sure it's not simply the torque converter?
mine grenaded at 2-something largely because of an additive the transmission shop put in (long story) instead of using the Dex 6 I told them to use.

| I'm not sure what it is, that's why I posted. Figured it could be the forward band from the symptoms but I really don't know. | |

| Well I just went around the block and it seemed to shift fine, if not a little slow. Modulator maybe? | |

| Update: Hasn't done the thing where it revs up and won't move since I added fluid. Still takes awhile going into/out of second under hard acceleration but goes in just fine under normal acceleration. Every other gear appears to be fine and the torque converter locks up when it should. Put in original modulator and a new one after that, saw no change between either of them. No codes on the computer. Ideas? Could it be tune related? Tune hasn't changed in awhile.... | |

Hydraulic fluid evaporates, doesn't it?

I haven't noticed any puddles or drips, but I haven't had a chance to crawl under and poke around for any leaks yet.

| There must be a leak. Transmission fluid shouldn't ever get low, even over 100k+ miles. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |
