| What ever happened and does any one have photo's they can either post or email me ? Morad's will ship me some used mounts but wants to know which ones and I don't have any photo's of trans mounts under the car. Can anyone help me, I'll use the junkyard mounts to try the polyurethane tip that Eric did on his car. That is if this prospect of having mounts made isn't a dead one. Never saw this thread before, could be dead and buried. This was initially brought up before I joined the ranks of the obsessed. I'm a little behind the power curve. | |

| I still run my poly mounts and love them... had to modify the first P mount I did and think its on the motormount 2 thread. Turtleman has my extra mounts as soon as I get around to it but if he already found a set of extras, they are yours...
turtleman- pm sent... | |

| Thanks Eric, I could use them or pictures and where they are under the car. I don't have a lift available to me to take good pictures and it's too cold to jack it up and do it now. But I would like to modify a set and have them ready for install. Thanks, Rick | |

| Let me know guys, Im still in, I have the riv off the road for the winter. Its in the garage staying away from the shitty weather and salt. Ive got the 99 Ultra as my winter beater so I would like some new mounts to install before spring when I put the riv back on the road. | |

| I'd like poly mounts with lower durometer, for street use. I think that means 50-60 not 80 durometer material. Almost anything would last better than the OE mounts. What were they thinking?
So I'm in - looks like Ed Morad will have a run on wacked motor/tranny mounts and we'll all get "new" mounts. Such a deal...

| Hmmm- so the thing to do is get a set of old mounts from Ed Morad and do the poly filling myself?!? Or is there still an interested group?!?

| Seems like a fair amount of new members are interested. I think someone should look into getting a group set made. | |

| albertj- doing them yourself is easy and I posted a writeup on how to do it. It does seen there are several people on this board that would be interested in someone making a group set. I'd love to help out but with my schedule, I don't see how I would get it done. | |

| One more question, Eric: do you have any experience casting poly of different durometers into the same chunk?

| Nope. Why would you want to? I would think if you had two different hardnesses (not mixed) it would take the properties of the softest one. Have you seen this done before? I'm interested if it give it any better characteristics... | |

| If I make the mounts myself I plan to try it in order to manage damping characteristics and durability of the mount. I am thinking that kind of like a mutt dog I might be able to get the best of both 'breeds' of poly.
I think I found a post talking about what I am thinking about:
http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-yourself-discuss-do-yourself-repair-maintenance/11148-diy-repair-strengthening-stock-motor-mounts-print.html
...that post is about making mounts for a Honda FiT using poly fill in the stock rubber mounts, and alternatively with 2 layers of differing-durometer poly.
So I guess now I need to get enough of the stuff to experiment with or see if someone's written technically about it. I also kind of wonder why the auto manufacturers are not using it if it works so well. Must be a reason having to do with fabrication and processing, if the material itself works well. I won't be able to do this any justice for some weeks.
...further comments from folks having interest and insight would be welcome. | |

| Ya, like I have been saying every couple of months I am definately in for this, its about time I get some new motor and trans mounts on my riv. The only thing is I dont feel confident enough to do this by myself, I mean this is whats holding my engine and transmission in place I know Eric, (ewolfe0050) says its not hard and that he has a write-up on how to do it, I just dont feel confident enough to do this kind of job. I would definately not mind paying someone a reasonable price , as long as they know what they are doing because they have done it before, for them to do it for me. I just cant afford them from the dealership. I just had to buy new control arms for my 99PAU because the bushings were bad and NOONE sells just the two bushings for the front lower control arms, at $450 each, GM for you | |

| Anthony, I'm going to look into getting some used mounts from Morad's soon and I'll buy the polyurethane and then put up set's for sale as long as I know people are interested. Also, I will soon have two pairs of F-body LS-1 Aluminum dual piston Caliper Kits (complete) rebuilt with everything needed for install up for sale also. I bought them used, have beadblasted, rebuilt, purchased all new hardware, rubber parts, shims, spacers, bolts, etc. Very Soon. | |
