| For those of you that know auto stereo, I have a question. I have a set of Polk DB5250, 5 1/4" component system that i bought a couple of years ago and have yet to install. My question is: would these MB Quarts be a better speaker for the front than the Polks.? Should i buy a set of the MB's and install the Polks in my girlfriends car.? Thanks in advance for any input you might have. Rick | |

| The Polk db line used to be their better speakers I believe, but it's now a middle tier model. I think it's comparable to the MB Quarts. I do think the Quarts would be easier to install. Maybe buy a set and see which sounds better. I've done that before - it's surprising how different a pair of speakers sound - and most don't have the luxury of trying out multiple sets. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| The magnet looks fairly large. Let me know if you have any issue installing them in the stock location. I'm very tempted to buy a pair for the riviera and Turbo Regal. These are mid-1990s speakers correct ? | |

| I did. I've had good luck with refurbished electronics in the past, and the seller's rating is good. If they turn out to be crap we'll just have to ban Ryan. | |

| Ryan, how long did it take to get your speakers? Did you get any kind of email notification, tracking number?
96RIVMANN - Yes, I do.
CS2 is o.k. for analog music (real instruments), until the speakers blow. It always sucks for electronic music.

| Jack I ordered mine on saturday and just got notification of shipment today. The seller could be a little better but at this price i won't complain. I'm hoping these will be a good upgrade over my infinity reference coaxials i have now. | |

| I ordered and paid the 25th. The 26th he printed a pay pal shipper. I got my speakers on the 3rd of this month.
8 days in transit if you count Saturday. Their Priority mail is an Fing joke. Its not 2-3 days anymore. Heck its the same speed as parcel post. Waste of cash I dont ship that way anymore.

The Quarts should change your mind about this. Acoustic, vocal and instrumental sounds are the more challenging to produce with realism, compared to electronic, techno tracks. You can have my old CSII mids if you want to do a comparison. They're in great shape. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

My infiniti reference coaxials do a fantastic job of recreating electronic music , but they struggle to satisfy on instrumental songs , particularly when the music gets busy , they tend to sound a bit muddy.

| In my experience, if a speaker system can get the natural timbres right, it'll play everything else perfectly. Speakers tuned to play classical and jazz will sound great playing metal and rap, but not usually vice versa. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| I'm no audiophile, my ears are shot anyway, but my CS2 plays real instrument music o.k. Put Aphex Twin in and you'll be wondering where half his tracks went. Sounds that should be there are simply gone. | |

| If anyone wants the geek numbers let me know. Processed through my Dayton Audio WT3. The purple is the Tweeter, green is the midbass. | |

| Pretty graph, but don't know what it all means. What is your assessment of the performance of these speakers in laymen terms. Thanks, Rick | |

| Wont know until I get them in the car.
One thing I can say, for $40 or less you will NOT find a speaker anywhere near as good, not even close.

| I just received a pair today. If anyone could shed a little light on the proper wiring of the component board, there are three possible wiring scenarios for the tweeters. Which should i go with.? -0dB, -3dB or -6dB. I am going to power them off the stock head unit for now. Will install amps later this summer. | |

| Well which one to use is up to your ears.
I would mount the crossover in the interior somewhere to avoid moisture.
Then it will make it easier for you to change the tweeter around to experiment.
I would start on the -6dB and audition a few tracks. Then change to the next, and so forth. Then choose whats best sounding to you.
Personally I always run my tweets at 0dB. I like it loud and crisp.
