| Hey guys, I think I am going to swap out the stock stereo in my Riv. Both the CD and tape players do not work and few of the lights are out and there are a couple of scratches. I know all these things are repairable but I think I would also like the ability to play mp3's either with either CD,USB or SD card slots. So I was wondering if those of you with aftermarket stereos can post some pics taken both in the light and dark. I want to choose one that will fit with the Rivs interior and stock illumination colors. | |

| If money is no object, I would go with a 2x DIN unit. There are several out there from Alpine, Kenwood, and a few others that look good. At $600 to $1000 they should have what you want. | |

| Thanks for the pic 96RIVMANN. I've seen that thread xxsupergman25xx, but there were very few pics of in dash stereos and more pics of amps and fabrications which is cool, but I was just thinking purely stereos, not LCD screens or GPS units, but clean stock looking stereos that are not too expensive. | |

| I finally got the thing. Install basically went great. the wiring is a LOT neater than that bulky jumble of bullshit on the harness of my last deck - DEH P80MP. I think this new one might be more picky about voltage but I'm fairly sure I need a new battery so I can't say that with all fairness yet. Like most others, this one isn't going in without cutting your space out. I had already done that from the first one. With two dins of room to work with, you'd think they might cut the install depth down just a little but naw. pics nice fit the new harness - I didn't think to take a pic of the old one but maybe I will later bluetooth mic - haven't tried it yet but from what I read, it's pretty good no matter where you put it So this is something I modified a lot to use as a panel mount USB plug. This used to be a cigarette lighter USB charger and a USB extension. They have come a long way with the digital media processors in these head units since they started out. The interface is fast as hell and easy to deal with. I had a concern that I wouldn't be able to use the ipod to navigate my ipod music but you can and it's very quick and easy to switch back and fourth. Because of that, my ipod which had a failed preamp and was therefore useless now works great because it's connected digitally to the HU. | |

| Nice job. In the first pic i noticed the modified USB port and at first, thought you had relocated your ignition switch. Thought, Oh, that's kind a cool and then you explained it. Still looks like you have a key in it though, is that a thumb drive or what it is it sticking out with a key fob on it.? | |

| It's just a thumb drive that looks like a key that I put music on. | |

| Hey Cody, I'm back. Was on vacation and didn't bring my computer. A "real" vacation! Anyhow, looks like you got my reply on FB and your install went well. How are you liking the one-knob controller? | |

I'm very happy with the head unit. It's everything I hoped for. I'm used to that 7-way button from my last pioneer so I'm cool with it. I don't remember it ever being weird even when i got the first one except that i never really knew the proper way to exit out of something after Ive gone in with the knob. I just hit the list button twice which took me into and out of the track/mp3 list. Did you use the bluetooth feature? Mine works pretty nice with my cheapy phone but the sound on my end is choppy a lot of the time. Don't know if its the phone or HU or what.

| That's a badass setup Codith. I'm wicked jealous. Need to look into getting a HU assembly soon. Would love the Ipod compatibility. | |

| Nice stereo Mark, and it looks like a very clean installation too. What model is that and did you have trouble making it fit? | |

| Nice HU Chris, what color do the buttons light up? I'd like to find one with the factory green coloring but most pioneers seem to be blue. Also what size are HU are you guys using? I think the dash is different on my 95 because the HVAC controls are recessed on mine and not flush like you see in these pics. | |

| 95 is different as far as I know. My unit right now is the same color as my dash gauge lights. I have a full color spectrum to choose from for the HU screen and button lights. | |

| Thanks guys. The HU is a Pioneer AVIC-X710BT
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/GPS-Navigation-Systems/AVIC-X710BT
The installation was a PITA!!!! I needed to break out a lot of the plastic molding that was already in the dash the held up the old radio, after that it fit great.
After my install, when I turned the volume up my HVAC unit started going nuts. Long story short the HVAC was bad. I replaced it with a used hvac and haven't had any issues since. This HU has the ability to upload a custom splash screen on boot up. I found one that someone already created it and modified it for my application. Its a good stereo, I have it hooked up to a 400 watt amp with RF speakers in the door and rear deck.
