| Just finished the install last week. What fun it was stuffing all the wires in back there! Had to do the usual cutting out of the back area. I had this in one of my other cars that is sold so its a little old but it does the job plus it plays DVD's, satellite radio ready and mp3 dvd's. Credit due to Tyler (97ParkAve) for giving me the idea/tip for doing the surround in black. So much better than the fake wood! | |

The wood's not fake. I know because I spent hours on end stripping it off the radio trim and shifter trim. It's got a thick gloss coat on it though.

- Thanks guys. The HU is a Pioneer AVIC-X710BT

The installation was a PITA!!!! I needed to break out a lot of the plastic molding that was already in the dash the held up the old radio, after that it fit great.
After my install, when I turned the volume up my HVAC unit started going nuts. Long story short the HVAC was bad. I replaced it with a used hvac and haven't had any issues since. This HU has the ability to upload a custom splash screen on boot up. I found one that someone already created it and modified it for my application. Its a good stereo, I have it hooked up to a 400 watt amp with RF speakers in the door and rear deck. When I first started looking for an alternative to the OEM HU, I looked at Pioneer AVIC models. That was a 3 or 4 years ago and wished they had more features and didn't require a separate CD disc for Navigation and they didn't have BlueTooth (which I wanted for making Phone calls, etc.) I also came to the conclusion that I could continue to get the audio I wanted from the OEM HU by installing Amps and as far as the peripherals, I could buy a speaker phone that has excellent quality and voice recognition, which I did. After watching the video on this unit and the current available features, I am inclined to pursue the install of a Pioneer AVIC unit again. As before I want a Unit that gives me the GPS with voice command with a downright decent receiver. I think they are finally making what it is I wanted back then and I'm sure they will only get better, but my car is getting older so maybe this year is the time to buy one of these AVIC'S. Thanks for the comment's and Link. I think I'm sold. BTW, Do you know what the 3 RCA pre-out voltage ratings are for the unit you bought.? Thanks Rick

| to fix busted vinyl dash
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Master-Manufacturing-Leather-Vinyl-Repair-Kit/13432580
and get pieces of a dash or 2 from a pik-n-pull and practice before you do yours. With a little practice no kidding you will make a repair that's not readily noticeable.

I'd have the pioneer touch screen one if my god damn phone was supported. I'm half tempted to trade in my Atrix for an Iphone, just so I can easily manage music on my phone and head unit. Which sucks, because overclocked at 1450mhz on CM7 using Gingerbread 2.3.7 with Faux321 OC'd Kernel, my Atrix is faster than any current stock phone out, being over a year and a half old, lol. and I love the integrated bio-metric fingerprint scanner. Seriously though, why the hell is every god damn accessory known to man made for that garbage Iphone? the only good thign about it is the camera and the S-IPS screen it has.

| This is my bad boy. Alpine's flagship on 2011 for single DIN headunits But it's not in the Riv anymore. I pulled it out a couple weekends ago and it's going into my Jeep. BUT, I did purchase another Alpine iPhone compatible headunit for the riv. | |
