Did you have the AC "ON" or the HVAC set to "AUTO" before turning engine off ???
Could have been the freon pressure equalizing after you shut off the engine.
As long as it makes the hissing noise inside the plumbing after shut down for a few minutes, That's Normal.

Actually the noise was before I even turned on the car the first time. I went outside this morning and popped the hood open to check the coolant levels and I heard the noise. It's pretty weird. It wasn't a hissing, whirring, or anything like that. But it came from the right side of the SC, closer to the throttle body.

Make sure all of the vac lines by the SC and TB are secure. Check the T's for cracks as well.

I hate to sound like a baby crying to his mom, but how exactly do you remove the throttle bottle? I tried to replace the TPS w/out having to do that but couldn't. I tried to remove the TB and once again, I could not.

Could someone be so kind as to explain how to do it?

Just in case someone new jumps into this thread. Here's a little summary of whats up.

When I first got the Riv it would hesitate when I reached speeds of 50+ MPH. The RPM needle would also act a little crazy and the idle was kind of rough. I never got any codes to shoot out of it. When I did finally get the codes, I replaced the ignition module. The car ran OK, after that point. I then replaced the plugs and wires. When I did that it drove a lot smoother than I did before. The only problem I had then was a rough gear shift. It would only happen on the first one and it would (normally) only happen when I had been driving the car for more than 45mins.

Well, I learned to live with that until recently. I noticed that the vehicle would start to shutter pretty bad when I got to about 45MPH and when I came to a red light the RPM needle would act up again. Only this time it would just stay within the 0 and the 1. The idle began to feel rough again.

I opened up the hood and found out that the cooling had cut up one of the plug wires! I replaced that wire (and another) and the car drove fine for that day. The following day it began suffer from the same symptoms (shutter at ~45MPH, RPM needle, and rough idle). I thought that the fan would have gotten a hold of the wire again, but that wasn't the case. At first the car's SES light did come on. But it hasn't come on sense (about 4 days ago). I haven't been able to get it scanned because money is kind of tight right now.

well 95RIVIsc it looks like you are on your way to becoming a mechanic. many car owners wont even roll up their sleeves to change a tire. bravo. the first order of the day is to buy a repair manual. contact ed morad maybe he has one for cheap. i bought mine for about $85 2 volume set. i dont remember where. just do a search. until you have the manual in your hands much of the advice you get wont make sense until you go through the book a few times....

Ok, so I went out there to work on the car and I noticed this.

There is some sort of small hose thing that is connected from the area circled in red to the area circled in green. Can I replace that? Or

Also there was a little chirping like noise coming from the sensor(??) that is right above the TPS. Anyone know what that one is called?

it looks like that hose is shredded? if so replace it with some new vacuum hose. that vacuum hose is going to the evap solenoid.
the sensor right above the tps is the iac (idle air control) motor. i dont believe you should hear any chirping coming from it. Is it possible that the chirping noise your hearing is coming from a vacuum leak from that hose you have circled in the upper post?

I don't have money for the manual man. When I say I'm broke, I truly mean it. I had to walk to work today and walk back.

My checking account is sitting on $4.34.

Well, its not the big thick hose thats broken. It's the small one that to the left of that one. It's pretty thin. This is what it looks like.

^^Thanks Albert!

When I did try and start it there was a small puff of white smoke that came from the are where the hose is connected.

I'm going to try and get a ride to Auto Zone tomorrow, so I can replace it.

EDIT: I should have probably said that it feels like a hard plastic material.

So I go to turn on the car the RPM needle shoots up and it shuts off. I try it again and once again same thing.

Easy fix?

I got it to turn on and stay on. I had to step on the gas a little bit and it stayed on. Turned it off waited about 30 minutes turned it back on and it stays on now. It's really, really, really, rough though. You can see the entire engine shaking.

I was able to actually get the car moving. When I'm driving it, it feels pretty good. When I come to a red light or something like that it feels like its going to turn off.

Luckily, a friend recommended me a mechanic that would be able to do a free engine diagnostics. Hopefully I can get it fixed soon!
