| Wonder what the price would be? Smoked would be to my liking. I currently have "Cool Blue" lights. They look "Cool", but there not worth a shit when it comes to lighting up the highway. My LED'S on my patrol car light up the road really well!!!! | |

| Corey, are you asking the manufacturer quesitons like:
- how many lights have to be made at a minimum to make a production run economical? - how many cars (say the Nissan Titan) have to be on the road to make it make sense to do this (make custom headlight) without having a customer lined up already? - at that minimum production run, what do the lights cost, and (separate question) what do they have to be sold for (don't be surprised if the cost:sold ratio is 1:3 or 1:4 or even more--if in fact they tell you) - can a design be made that could have either HID's or Halogens inside, and whcih halogen capsules? - if those of us in on the group buy somhow 'invest' in the design, will it help?
For the rest of you - from where I sit it looks like Corey needs answers to this poll in order to get the pricing right and stuff. If you are interested in the lights, weigh in.
Another thinkg I kind of wonder is if GM ever had projector lights on the drawing board fo rhte RIv, before they cut the model at the end of 1997. I don't have a way to answer that question at this time.

| Those are the factory headlights on a riv that is now in Duze, Poland They aren't quite halos, I don't think, but they appear to have projector lenses which I would be happy with. Most of the poll options are a step or two further. That is an example of aftermarket halo headlights. It's like BMW's signature style. Personally, I could live without the actual glowing halos but I would love to have some nice clear lenses with single or dual projectors. Albert, the projector type lenses that I think we would be using with this would be much more HID friendly that the stock housing but you can still use halogens. I don't think HID's were ever coming on the riv. By the time HID technology came to general use by the DMM (97ish), the riv was already becoming less popular and it would have been a bit of a waste for GM to spend money designing new headlight housing for a car thats going to be dropped. | |

| You might want to look at
http://www.hidtech.com/retros.html
Idea might be to get a couple junkyard headlamps and let them do a Projector conversion.
How will your pricingbe compared to these?

Albertj the problem with that is those core housings are expensive to begin with and brand new, our housings have the block lens pattern which screws the whole effect up. | |

| Hi Corey - about the lenses - that's a problem, as the lights I pointed to in my post are intended to go into existing housings. I just wanted you to see something from a second source in case you needed that. Should have been more explicit, sorry.
I found these guys on the web, is this the outfit you are thinking of ordering from?

| Hmmm... Corey, you only have seven votes -- might be time to think up a Plan B.
Toward your thinking on Plan B I offer the following: after your Riv is bak on the road, get a pair of junkyard headlamps and do a Projector conversion. Maybe part of the block lens pattern can be cut out and the rest painted.
Specifically, we'd get the old headlamps, make new lenses that can be bonded on top of the old, cut out the block lens so that the projector beams will pass through, paint the whole shooting match smoke (to match the running boards), and install the projector units in the reflector housing. There could be three projector units per headlamp (Hi/driving/full beam; fog beam; low/dipped beam). If only 2 units, ditch the fogs.
And if we have time/interest, maybe a strip of white or yellow LEDs to act as 'city lights.'
