I've never compressed springs before so please pray I dont kill myself. The rentable spring compressors are a little scary. I made my family leave the area when I was doing them in my driveway.

| I might just bring the entire strut to a garage and have them do it. We'll see how it goes. | |

A better question, that I might be able to answer with a shorter and more specific response, would be: What's right with me!?

I was trying to help you out. It would take too long for me to explain everything that's wrong with me. It would be easier to just say what's right. anyways... Yall wanna see what my Riv looks like now with Eibachs on?!

| Holy crap. Just did 40 some miles on the new Eibachs. I don't have pics yet. I know, fail.
Dang! She cruises so nice now! feels great! As many of you may know, I had some serious issues with my front struts and coil springs. I was damned with the Monroe Quick strut that I had to buy in a quick pinch. Although marketed as compatible with our fucking sweet rides, it's not. It will jack up your front end and make your Riv worthless. I switched the springs with moogs as fast as I could but and noticed an improvement but it still didnt feel right.
I measured the height before the springs were installed. My front was half inch higher up than the back. Not good for a FWD! I have not had a proper weight balance since I installed the monroe quick sluts. My traction and power have thus suffered.
Although I am still on the Monroes, the Eibachs have dropped the front to where it needs to be. I have a noticeable difference in power, now that the weight balance is more ideal. The wheels turn easier, cornering is smoother, straight lines are smoother, bumps feel no different than with previous springs. Lift off, sailing, 0G, porpoising, fat bitch jiggy jiggy, or what have you is much tighter now. It feels great.
In fact, I would even say the the rate could be increased EVEN MORE from this and it would only get better. I am tickled with the results from this install. I seriously cannot stop smiling right now. I am positive that fat sway bars will be the cherry on top, but until then, I will continue to be amazed.
She looks sexy as hell, runs so much smoother in every way, and has restored better balance to my Riv. I will for sure go KYB or coilovers next, but until then I am going to beat the hell out of these Monroes!
I will get you guys some pics when the sun comes up tomorrow!
I absolutely recommend the higher rate springs and center of gravity drop. Our fat jiggy rides highly benefit from a stiffer suspension.

I absolutely recommend the higher rate springs and center of gravity drop. Our fat jiggy rides highly benefit from a stiffer suspension. Actually what happened was simpler. The Monroe struts, at factory ride height, are jiggly on purpose. This is by design to give a "comfort zone" and when compressed somewhat below standard height they stiffen up in the "control zone." So what you did was to defeat the Monroe struts' key design feature. Which in hindsight probably is not a bad thing, I actually removed and sold a set of monroes after about 50 miles rather than ride on them. Thinking about your experience, the monroes with eibachs might be a viable Plan A for better control in driving. Hmmm...

| This sounds like a winner so far. Side by side before/after photos and measurements will be the final piece of the puzzle.
I wonder if there is any reasonable way to adapt later 98+ struts to a 95/96 so that one could use these springs?

| Still haven't taken measurements, but I did snap a couple pics today. I am seriously considering doing the Rancho shock mod now. The front feels great. Could be a little firmer, but as is, it's superb. Backs are still kinda soft and II really think the Ranchos might be what I need now. I can't tell you how pumped I am for sway bars now. Goodness! It just keeps getting better! I think a popular misconception is that the higher rate springs will affect ride quality and it's just not true. The ride has definitely increased. Feels great. I don't bottom out, scrape, rub, no negative side effects. Just need a stiffer rear still. I just can't say how happy I am with the springs.

I kinda know what he means. If you've been ridin around on mushy shoes then replace them with tight n rite springs, the feeling is like having a little more HP.I amazed myself when I hard mounted the rear motor mount! Car felt like it shot out of a cannon with every acceleration from a stop!

| Yeah, the trans/motor mount actually does let the engine transfer more torque. I noticed the same when I fitted a solid resin-filled rear and puck front mounts. 1st gear feels like the engine is going to twist the car in half. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |
